I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.
Well I'm finally acclimatised back to The Moray weather system after my holiday to Dubai. Despite some changeable weather we seem to have dodged the vast majority of the worst weather as usual. Looking at the pictures in the news and many photos of other golf clubs on Facebook, we have been pretty lucky with no real disruption to the course play. Many courses in Perth and the central belt have seen course closures with flooding taking over. That's one of the real benefits we have at Moray Golf Club, with a great micro climate that gives us much less rain than many other areas, and 2 great courses that have excellent drainage and stay pretty dry underfoot for the majority of the time!
I can't believe how fast Christmas is approaching and we now have just 2 weekends before the big day. We (ok mainly Julieann) have been working hard to get our Christmas decorations up in the shop and get into the Christmas spirit.
We have our staff Christmas party this Friday and so we shall do our best to get festive and start the celebrations early!!
Unfortunately I will be in the shop on Saturday (how did that happen?) I'm obviously too nice a boss and need to review for next year! Haha.
We have plenty of great gift ideas for that golfer in your life. However if you can't find anything or your looking for ideas, why not check out our Click and Collect service with Foremost Golf by
clicking here. This will allow you to browse through a huge range of products and get them delivered to us here at Moray

£25 How long does your Saturday medal round take to play? It's a hot topic and one which I know frustrates many of you during the summer months.
One such club in the UK decided to incentivise its players. Every group that played in under 3.5 hours was given a
FREE pint after their round!! I could see this motivating quite a few of our members, however I'm not sure the clubs bank balance would be able to deal with the demand!!! Haha.
So how do we combat this? I'd be very interested to hear your opinions on slow play and your suggestions on how we can speed the game up a little.

Playing the 11th (Old) Stephen's drive ended up on the right side of the rough close to the whins. His ball was clear of the whins but his stance would be in them. Studying his options he decided to play the shot with his bag towel wrapped around his back and legs to protect him from their needles. He made good contact and his ball was advanced well up the fairway. Billy who was playing with him questioned if that was permitted under the Rules.
Provided Stephen takes his stance fairly there is no breach of the Rules. However if he had placed his towel on the whin bush to protect him he would be in breach on the Rules for altering the physical conditions with the intent of affecting the playing of the hole, as a result he would lose the hole in Match Play or incur a penalty of 2 strokes in stroke play.
