Hello golfers,
I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.
We have had a busy few days in the shop with Julieann taking a few days well deserved annual leave. She has been out on the course this week completing her score cards to regain her handicap (10 handicap) which will allow her to play in some of the ladies competitions.
Derek has been away playing in the P&H Championships at the Reniaissance Club. Unfortunately Derek missed the cut after 36 holes, but enjoyed the course and the experience, and now with his exams finished he's looking to get out on the course and playing a few more events.
We had a busy Monday this week with a few groups of visitors coming to the course and enjoying the sunshine on the links. One particular group got the prize for best dressed. These gentleman were visiting from Sweden and are members of the Hickory Golf Society. I'm thinking about adding some of these outfits to next year's clothing pre books.
This weekend we have the Boyd Anderson 36 Hole Open played over both courses on Saturday, and so it's one of the only days of the year where both courses are pretty much closed for the day.
Last weekend the HP Stewart was played over the Old Course which also acted as a true 3rd qualifying event for the Capro Cup event I'm putting on in October.
Check out the latest order of merit tables later in the newsletter.

Last week Michael Dean, Gerry Devine, Malcolm Macleman and Jim Young represented the seniors at the Northern Counties Championships at Royal Dornoch.
The Pro Shop helped sponsor the team with some new tops for the event and Michael Dean said they were the best dressed team of all the clubs competing. However unfortunately that didn't convert into the best playing team (Michael's words haha)
The team started well winning against Fortrose by 8 holes. However the team were narrowly beaten by the finalists, Duff House Royal by 2 holes in the second round.
Unlucky gents, you definitely looked the part.
The senior's team also travelled back up to Royal Dornoch this week for a team match. Despite a 6-2 defeat on the day, I'm sure everyone enjoyed the day......what's not to enjoy about playing golf in the sunshine?

Pete and Mike were playing the 5th Old. Mike's ball was on the green back left, and Graham's putt was from front right with the hole cut centre back. Graham removed the flag and laid it aside, but when he putted, the borrow of the green was taking his ball towards the flag stick lying on the ground so he called to Pete to remove it as his ball would likely be stopped by it. Was Pete permitted to remove the Flagstick lying on the green.
Answer
Yes. Rule 18 states 'When a ball is in motion an obstruction that might influence the movement of the ball, other than equipment of any player or the flagstick when attended removed or held up, must not be removed.
