Moray Open in Full Swing..
It's a rather busy week here with Moray Open qualifying rounds in full swing and so I'm aiming to keep this week's newsletter short and sweet.
I will have a full roundup of this week's activities during next week's newsletter.
Last weekend saw a hugely successful Open Championship unfold over Royal Troon in Ayrshire.
It was magical viewing with a final round shootout between Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson which was one of the best final rounds golf in history as Mickelson shot a final round 65 to somehow still lose by 2 shots. Stenson shot a course record equalling 63 to take his first major victory and be crowned Champion Golfer of 2016.
The standard of golf displayed by both players was just unbelievable, and it was truly gripping watching. I'm personally very pleased for Stenson, but Mickelson showed he's still got plenty left in the tank at 47 to win another major.
Hopefully that inspired many of our Moray Open hopefuls this week to go on to lift the trophy on Friday evening.
Thanks to everyone who took a square in last week's Open Sweepstake. The results can be seen by clicking here.
This weekend will see the July Monthly Medal taking place over the Old Course, and on Sunday the Duffus Inn Ladies Open Stableford will take place on the New Course, and Moray take on Elgin in the Moray & Nairn Golf League at 1:00pm on the Old Course.
This weekend's Monthly Medal will also be the 7th of 10 counting events for the CAPRO CUP which takes place over the Old Course on Ryder Cup Weekend, the 1st & 2nd October. The current points tables can be seen by clicking here.
