Hello golfers,
I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.
The final major of the year took place at Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey which has hosted seven U.S Opens and the 2005 and 2016 PGA Championships.
After the 3rd round was postponed due to thunder storms and heavy rain, it meant a lot of golf needed to be played on the final day if they were to reach the conclusion of the event come Sunday evening. Thankfully it did and Jimmy Walker claimed his first Major at 37 years old with a 14 under total to win by one shot from world Number 1, Jason Day.
A two shot lead with two holes to play looked to be good enough for victory, however a final hole eagle from Jason Day, meant it was a nervous final hole for Walker. However he played sensibly and managed to beat the nerves to sink a 3 foot par putt to win his first major title. It also meant that each of these years 4 major champions were all first time winners, showing just how competitive the top level of golf really is.
We now have only 3 qualifying events left for the Capro Cup on the 1st week of October. I was in such a rush to finish my newsletter last week that I forgot to post the results after last weeks Monthly Medal. These can now be seen by clicking here.
This weekend we have the 8th qualifying event during the August Monthly Medal on the New Course with it all to play for....Good Luck.
With the Moray Open now behind us and now the last Major over it's starting to feel a little quieter on the links. However I'm hoping for a late Indian Summer to help extend the season somewhat.
Derek has been busy with some more junior coaching this week while I've been in the shop. I am away to check out some of next seasons ranges with Oscar Jacobson, Glenbrae, SkyCaddie and ECCO all being looked at. If you have any other brands you would like to see me stock just click here and let me know.
I will also be taking a little bit of time of next week as I have my son Jack up from Ayr for the last couple of weeks of his holidays. I will be in and out of work during the week, but won't be available for any coaching during the week. If anyone has any coaching needs, Derek will be available to see you in the right direction.
