Tiger Woods Comeback Postponed
There was much excitement around Tigers announcement that he would be making a comeback for this weekend's Safeway Open in California.
However once again his comeback has been put on hold as the golfing world all wonders whether we will ever see him return and whether he will be able to get anywhere near the heights he once achieved as a player. I can't believe it was 2008 when Tiger won the last of his Major Championships.
Tiger announced
"After a lot of soul-searching and honest reflection, I know that I am not yet ready to play on the PGA Tour or compete in Turkey........ My health is good, and I feel strong, but my game is vulnerable and not where it needs to be.''
Dunhill Cup
Elsewhere in Scotland, the Dunhill Championships took place over 3 of Scotland's best links courses in Kingsbarns, Carnoustie and the Old Course at St Andrews.
Tyrell Hatton equaled the championship record with a total of -23 which included a course equaling 62 around the Old Course on Saturday.
He has been gradually working his way up the leaderboards over the past couple of seasons and certainly chose a great event to make his first tournament win. Hatton moves into 33rd Place in the world rankings and takes his season's earnings to over £2 million for 2016 with a cool £640,000 for this event alone..
I quite fancy him to feature in a few of the majors next year and be a good outside bet for the 2017 Open Championship if he continues with his form over the last couple of seasons.
Scotland's Marc Warren managed to secure his tour card for 2017 with a great top 5 finish. Warren was sitting outside the top 120 on the tour leading into the event and needed a high finish to keep his full playing privileges for next season.
He put his success down to the purchase of a £30 training aid before the event.
Last Saturday saw Moray make the trip to take on Duff House Royal in the annual end of season match. Thankfully the weather was good for the day, however this didn't help the team's performance as they ended up losing the match 11.5-3.5.
This weekend will see the last of the main competitions, the Autumn Stableford take place over the Old Course. Good Luck to everyone as they try to finish the season on a high..
The first week of the Winter Cup will take place over the New Course on Saturday, 5 and Sunday, 6 November. Entries will be taken in the shop as per usual competitions at a cost of £3 per person. We will also run a magic 2's in 2 handicap sections over the course of the winter. There will be a one off £3 entry fee to join the winter cup which will be used to pay for the prizes for the winter cup final event on Saturday, 18 March.
I will post a full list of fixtures and rules & regulations for the winter cup in next week's newsletter.
Advertise your business here and help support members events in 2017..
I'm going to offer 12 x monthly advertising packages which will cost £60 plus vat per month and include the following:
1- A full screen advert on our TV display in the shop where you can advertise your business to the members and customers at Moray GC.
2- 4 x weekly adverts with up to 150 words and a picture to advertise your business
3- A banner in the newsletter content with a link to your company website
The good news is........... All the money you spend on advertising your business will be put back into the club.
I am planning on running our Capro Cup event at the end of each season after we had such a positive response from everyone who took part this year. The cost of running the event wasn't cheap and so I'm trying to cover the cost of this member's event through these advertising options.
It will also go towards funding a winter coaching program for the junior golf team and those juniors showing promise within the club.
Anyone interested in taking an advertising slot, please email me by

Ladybird Quiz Night There was a good turnout for the Golf Club Quiz night in aid of the Ladybird Group. Unfortunately the Pro Shop team weren't able to make the Quiz this year. We just didn't feel our quiz answering skills were up to par so we opted for paying the entry fee (all for a great cause) and leaving someone else to finish in last place this year..
I'm pleased to say it was a success and over
£300 was raised for the Ladybird Group on the night. Well done to everyone who supported the night
The next Quiz night will this Thursday night hosted by our Ex-Captain
John Ellwood and starting at 7.30pm. There will then be a week's break before the ''LADIES'' take charge for the next Quiz night.
The Catering will be closed completely from the 17th October until the 28th October for essential maintenance and repairs to be carried out to the kitchen area.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause during this time.
After a stroke from off the green James' ball overhangs the lip of the hole. While he is removing the flagstick, his ball falls into the hole, striking the flagstick. James's actions did not cause the ball to move.
He turned to Andrew and asked should he be adding a penalty?
Andrew confirmed that there would not be a penalty under Rule 17. If the ball came to rest within the circumference of the hole with all of it below the level of the lip the hole, the ball is holed. If after striking the flagstick the ball is deflected out of the hole, the ball must be placed on the lip of the hole without penalty.
