Jimmy's ball was at the back of the 8th green (Old). After studying his putt he asked Brian to attend the flag. While his ball was in motion a pair of Typhoon jets took off over the green. The sudden burst of noise made Brian clasp both hands to his ears and unfortunately Jimmy's ball struck the unattended flagstick. "What happens now" said Jimmy " Do I get to retake the putt, you were attending the flag when I putted"?
'I am afraid not' said Brian 'and unfortunately you have incurred a two stroke penalty for striking the unattended flagstick in the hole. Jimmy was not too pleased but he went on to birdie the 9th and 10th.
