The Foremost Golf Annual Conference
I'm now back and fully recovered from my trip down to Milton Keynes for the annual Foremost Golf Conference.
The Conference was full of educational seminars from the top suppliers on subjects like store merchandising, custom fitting, marketing, shoe fitting and generally ideas to help us try to improve the service we bring you here at Moray Golf Club.
We also had a great seminar with Jamie Edwards, founder of Trained Brain who I have worked with a number of years ago when I took part in an NLP Practitioner course (let's just say Golf Psychology for now).
Jamie is hugely positive and adopts a ''think differently'' approach to everything whether in coaching, business or life. He is a former International Basketball player who has worked with golfers including Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke and more recently Tyrell Hatton.
I have been working to see if I might be able to bring Jamie to the club in the future to do a golf psychology evening for those members interested....so watch this space.
The trip is also an invaluable chance to sit down and network with fellow PGA Professionals. This is probably where I find I get the greatest value.....sharing ideas with other like minded people.
Finally we had our annual Foremost Golf Industry Awards Dinner which presents successful suppliers and professionals with awards for their efforts over the year.
I was delighted to be one of 4 Professionals nominated for the main award of the night, Foremost Professional of the Year 2016. Unfortunately I was beaten by Jason Broadway from West Cornwall Golf Club, but hopefully I can go one step further next year. Thanks to everyone for their kind words of encouragement both before and after the awards.....it's greatly appreciated.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to fill out our recent equipment survey. We had a huge response with 202 of you participating. This was the highest response rate from any Foremost member in the U.K.
I have now received all the information from the survey and will be going over it during the next few weeks. This will help me with my buying decisions in the future as well as offering you some special offers and advice in any areas of your bags that are in need of some help.
Hopefully you all received a special code giving you £20 OFF the foremostgolf.com website on purchases over £100.

Annual Prizegiving
We had a pretty good turnout to the Annual Prizegiving on Friday evening with a good mix of men's, ladies and juniors attending. Congratulations to the prize winners on the night and I hope there were no sore heads the following morning..
I managed to take a couple of snaps on the night, but hopefully we shall have more snaps from the night available from our professional photographer on the night which I will post in next week's newsletter.
World Cup of Golf
Scotland's Duncan Stewart and Russell Knox will tee it up for their country in the ISPS World Cup of Golf at Kingston Heath GC in Australia this week.
Knox and Stewart have been friends for years and as Knox was the top ranked Scot, it was up to him to choose his playing partner for the event. Much to the surprise of many, Knox chose his old friend from his junior and college golf days where they both attended Jacksonville University.
Their golfing careers have gone in very different directions since leaving University , with Knox winning multiple times on the USPGA Tour while Stewart has struggled to make ends meet while playing on the challenge tour. However a maiden Challenge Tour title in Madrid this year helped Stewart to secure his European Tour card for next season and his inclusion in this weeks event alongside Knox will guarantee him a welcome paycheck to help him with what will be a huge year ahead in 2017.
I for one will be cheering them on and I even tweeted Duncan to wish him all the best from us all here at Moray GC. Here's hoping they can have a great week and it can push Duncan on to have a great year on the European Tour.
One Saturday Les & Ken had reached the 10th green Old when a heavy wintery squall came over the course. As Ken was about to play his 3 feet putt , his line to the hole was becoming affected by the rain lying on the top of the green. As his putt was only 3 feet he asked Les if he could remove the rain with his putter head. What was Les' reaction?
Les was very quick to explain that Ken would be in breach of Rule 16-1a ,for touching the line of putt and then went on to add the line of putt can only be touched in the removal of loose impediments and repair of ball marks etc. Dew and frost are not loose impediments. Snow and natural ice, other than frost, are either casual water or loose impediments at the option of the player.
See Loose Impediments in the Definitions Section of the Rules of Golf
Ken aquaplaned his putt into the hole to save his par.
