Hello Golfers,
I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.
This will be our last newsletter now until the New Year therefore Derek, Julieann and I would like to all take this chance to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year when it comes along.
I would also like to thank you all for your support over the year through the shop, attending our Pro's Day, Night Golf, members trip to Castle Stuart and supporting the Inaugural Capro Cup this year. We are making the most of these quieter days on the links through the winter to plan for next year and will be bringing you a new Diary of Events for 2017 very soon.
2017 events calender
We will be hosting another Night Golf event in January or February. Our Pro's Day will be held in in June and our Capro Cup event in early October.
I am also looking into some more members away days in the new year. I will also be looking to add a hickory golf day, Srixon ball fitting event, more club fitting events and a number of free members golf clinics to the 2017 calendar.
We look forward to bringing these new ideas and events to you all in the new year.

TaylorMade Launches New M Family
You may have seen a lot of activity on social media over the last week as details were finally revealed on next years TaylorMade product line up.
After a very successful 2016, I am pleased to reveal that TaylorMade are continuing with the M1 and M2 product for the 2017 season.
The familiar black/white contrast head will remain on the woods but some new tweaks to the new range and added adjustability will make the product even better. New additions will be a draw enhancing M2 driver, M1 Iron, new wedges, TP5 golf ball and a new TP putter line.
The new products will officially launch from the end of January but as a one of only 5 TaylorMade Brand Ambassadors in Scotland, Moray Golf Club will have these new products weeks in advance to try before the main launch date. I may even get these before Christmas so watch this space and ill keep you all informed.
Once these arrive, I will be organising a TaylorMade launch event where you can come along to trial the product and get FREE fitting advice from Derek and I.
We will also have a festive raffle at £2.50 per ticket or 5 for £10 for those of you who want to be in with a chance of winning a new set of TaylorMade M2 Irons which will be drawn in the clubhouse on January 2nd after the String Competition prize giving.
Click here for further information on the new TaylorMade range for 2017.
Festive Raffle Draw
We are a bit late but we will be running a Festive Raffle Draw at £2.50 each or 5 for £10.
The winning ticket will be drawn on the 2nd January in the clubhouse after the string competition and the top prize will be a set of the new TaylorMade M2 irons which will be released in January.
Come on down to the pro shop and grab your ticket.
Ian and Kevin were discussing the new local rule coming in on the 1st January 2017 for accidental movement of a ball on the putting green only, and in particular why it was being introduced.
Kevin explained that the shape, slope and condition of many putting greens today increase the chances that a ball at rest on a putting green will move, and it can be difficult to determine whether a player caused this movement or whether the ball was moved by wind or other natural causes.
When a ball moves while the player is doing nothing more than taking his normal actions to prepare for a Putt it may seem unfair for the player to be penalised.
New Local Rule: Replace the ball and play from the original location without penalty. This also applies to ball moved accidentally by player, his partner, his opponent or any of their caddies or equipment.
Examples of accidental movement include: dropping your ball-marker on the ball, accidentally making contact with the ball when taking a practice swing near the ball, accidentally making contact when addressing the ball, accidentally kicking the ball etc.
If your ball is moved as a result of wind, water or some other natural cause, including gravity, the ball must be played as it lies from its new location without penalty. |
