Franks ball was back left of the 3rd green of the new, Mike's ball was front left with the hole cut front right. Before frank putted he asked Mike to remove the flagstick and he placed it to his right hand side just on the green. Frank misjudged the speed of the green and his ball not quite reaching the hole started to swing off the right on the green and it looked like it would collide with the flagstick on the green. Sensing the urgency Frank called to Mike to remove it thereby avoiding a 2 stroke penalty. Was Mike permitted to remove the Flagstick?
Mike was able to point out that under Rule. 24 (Obstructions) '' When a ball is in motion, an obstruction (the flagstick) that may include the movement of the ball, other than equipment of any player OR THE FLAGSTICK WHEN ATTENDED REMOVED OR HELD UP MUST NOT BE REMOVED. Frank was grateful that Mike knew this Rule.
