Abercrombie Final

Unfortunately the Abercrombie Cup Final was postponed on Saturday due to Duff House Royal being closed for the day due to excessive rainfall over night

I am pleased to name the team below for the re-arranged final, to be played Sunday, 24 September at 1.30pm.

Golf day

Castle Stuart Members Away Day

We still have 8 places left for our member’s away day to Castle Stuart on Saturday, 23 September. Come in past and pay your £90 (cash only please) to secure your place.

We have cancelled the bus due to a lack of interest so it will be a matter of making your own way through for your tee time on the day which will be finalised by next week’s newsletter.

We will run a stableford competition on the day and Derek will be out in the first group so that he can collect scorecards after your round and work out the winners.

Success story

Hole in 1

G Murray had a hole in 1 on the 4th hole of the Old Course on Tuesday. It took Graeme 44 years to get his first one and he then had 2 in the space of 3 weeks!!

This was Graeme's 3rd Hole in 1 and his first at Moray GC. Graeme hit a 5 iron and was partnered by Jake Scott and Iain Meggatt.

Rule of the week

Improving Lie, Area of Intended Stance or Swing, or Line of Play

Playing in a Saturday Competition Andrew’s ball lies at the back of the 6th Green (Old) in an unpleasant lie. Brian’s ball lies in the bunker front left of the green, which is on an extension of Andrew’s line of play. It is Andrew to play first but before he does so Brian walks into the bunker to assess his next stroke, thereby creating footprints. Andrew believes that his ball might not come out of his lie cleanly and end up in the bunker. He asks Brian if he is entitled to have the bunker restored to the conditions which existed when his ball came to rest?

Brian was in agreement that this is so. Under Rule 1-4 he may restore the bunker to its former condition because the footprints were created by him after Andrew’s ball came to rest. The bunker may be restored by anyone.
