A look ahead

This week stages the last 2 competitions of the main season with Thursday’s Midweek Stableford and Saturday’s September Monthly Medal. Saturday’s medal is also the final qualifying event of this year’s Capro Cup which is to be played over the 14/15th October, with the final qualifying spaces up for grabs.

I will be sending out emails to the final 24 qualifying players during next week and the teams will be announced in next week’s newsletter.

Moray take the Treble!

Huge congratulations to the Moray Scratch Team as they retained the Abercrombie Cup against Newmachar GC last Sunday at Duff House Royal GC.

Members Trip a Success

Thanks to everyone for supporting the Castle Stuart trip last weekend. We had a total of 27 players plus our very own Assistant Professional Derek Ramsay who looked after everyone on the day.

Thankfully the weather was favorable and everyone seemed to enjoy their day.

We ran an individual stableford on the day and the results were as follows:

Moray GC on Tour!

Moray members have been chasing the sunshine on their latest golf trips. Ron Ritchie and Ian Strong sent me this picture with the two of them representing MGC with their logo polo shirts while on a golfing trip to El Rompido Golf in Spain. It also looks like a successful week for Ron as he swept up at the prizegiving.

Rule of the Week

James' drive at the 2nd Old ended up against a rake that was left out of a bunker. Before removing the rake he marked the position of his ball so that he would be able to replace his ball precisely if the ball moved when the rake is removed. James removes the rake and the ball does not move. However the ball moves when the marker is removed.

Is this a penalty? He asks Ken. What was Ken's answer?

Ken was able to tell James that the ball marker is itself a movable obstruction. Accordingly, under Rule 24-1 James incurs no penalty and he must replace his ball.

Premier Fitting Event at Gleneagles

As a brand Ambassador for TaylorMade I have been offered a couple of fitting slots at their Premier Launch event for the new P790 and CGB Irons at Gleneagles Golf Academy on Friday 13th October. If anyone is interested in attending then please contact me in the shop ASAP as slots are filling up fast.

Anyone interested to try these out but doesn't want to make the 5 hour round trip to Gleneagles let us know here. We will be looking to host our own fitting day where you can come along and try out all the new equipment from PING, TaylorMade and Titleist at the same time.
