I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.

All I can say is that the M1 & M2 ranges will be replaced with new product which will be launched mid-February. As one of only 4 TaylorMade Brand Ambassadors in Scotland, we will be one of the first to receive our fitting product and so will have product to try around 2 weeks before the official launch.

And seeing as though I’m not allowed any pics of the clubs, here’s a few snaps I got from Mercedes World which includes Lewis Hamilton’s F1 car. Also a whole dismantled F1 car which was suspended in mid-air.

Winter Cup

Next week we will have an aggregate update to see who’s leading the Winter Cup 6 weeks in. Remember, you can have both scores counting from a weekend, so if you get the chance and the weather is half decent make the most of it.

Alan Kennedy and Ivor Rollo stormed to victory in Division 1 and 2 by 3 and 7 shots respectively.

Saturday New Course:

With an extra £23 in the pot from week 4 2s were worth £16 to the following people: Colin Young, John Petrie, Jim Murphy, and Stewart Rothnie.

Sunday New Course

Paul Masson claimed Division 1 on countback from Brian Ross and Archie Jackson had a 2 point victory in Division 2 from Jay Anderson.

2s were worth £5.30 to the following people: James Millar, Jamie McCulloch, David Johnston, Paul Masson, Ivor Rollo, and Jim Murphy.

Rule of the Week

The ROW is about playing a ‘provisional’ ball and a ‘second’ ball. A second ball (3 -3) is not a provisional ball but a provisional ball can be a second ball.

Neil was in doubt as to whether his tee shot at the 4th Old may be out of bounds. He played a provisional ball under Rule 27-2. He finds his original ball and cannot determine whether it is out of bounds or not. Neil wishes to consider the provisional ball as his second ball under Rule 3-3 and complete the play of the hole with both balls.

Does David agree with Neil’s actions?

Yes. In invoking Rule 3-3 after playing a provisional ball, Neil must treat his provisional ball as a second ball. Although Note 3 to Rule 3-3 provides “A second ball played under Rule 3-3 is not a provisional ball under Rule 27-2“ the reverse is not true in this case.
