Greetings from John Murray Moray Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC. It’s finally here.....Masters Week! As always it’s sure to be a fantastic week’s golf and it’s really hotting up to be one of the best tournaments ever with so many top players hitting form just at the right time. I watched the par 3 event last night and it was amazing with Tom Watson winning on -6 for the 9 holes which is an amazing feat at the age of 68!! His playing partners Jack Nicklaus (78) finished -4 and Gary Player (82) -2 just going to prove its not all about hitting it a long way!! Nicklaus’s grandson (his caddy) then created a magical Masters moment when he took a shot at the 8th hole and proceeded to make his first ever hole in 1 in front of thousands of fans and millions of viewers worldwide. I will certainly be glued to the TV over the next few days and hope you all enjoy the golf and that it inspires you all to take to the course over the next week or so.

Shepherd holds his nerve
Stirling University’s Laird Shepherd, the defending champion, saw off stiff competition in a tense final round to claim his second Scottish Student Strokeplay Championship at Moray GC (Old). Speaking on his victory Shepherd said ‘It is a great championship and a real highlight of my season to come up to Moray. The courses here are superb and the whole club contributes to a fabulous event. It was tough out there today but I’m delighted to have closed out the win.’ |

Here were a few kind words and a rather nice photo from the organisers after the event “At the close of a wonderful week Scottish Student Sport would like to acknowledge the fantastic support provided by the all the members and staff at Moray Golf Club for another terrific week – the 19th year in a row that our event has been in Lossiemouth. All of the players have enjoyed fabulous hospitality, a warm welcome, fantastic clubhouse facilities, the support of an excellent pro-shop, and the use of two fantastic golf courses in quite remarkable condition for the time of year. We all look forward to returning again at the same time in 2019.”

Texas Scramble - Old Course
We had a full turnout for our first open event of the new golf season. It was great to see the club so busy after a quieter than normal start to the year and also hear the many positive comments on the condition of the course. It was mainly visiting golfers who appeared on the division 1 leaderboard, however nice to see a few more local names appear on the prize winners in division 2.

It's time to upgrade Lithium batteries are quicker charging, last longer and work out cheaper in the long run than the standard Lead Acid alternatives, so it's time to say goodbye if you're still using one. As such, we'll give you £25 when you trade-in your old battery against a new Lithium one. Motocaddy has now made Lithium even more affordable, so this really is a fantastic opportunity to save yourself some money. Put your name up in lights |
It only comes around once a year and it’s that time again - Masters week! The first Major of the year takes place at Augusta National this week, which we always take as a sign that the season is getting underway. With this in mind, we have one question for you: are you ready to play your best golf this year? |
Maximise your potential We've all sat looking at the honours boards in a clubhouse before, admiring the one name that appears to be on most and thinking 'wow, they must be pretty good!' Well, how good would it feel if that name up in lights was yours? If you come and speak to us we can talk about your strengths, weaknesses and goals for this season and look at the best way to help you achieve them, whether that’s a one-off fault-fixer lesson, regular sessions to aid your consistency or perhaps a look at your equipment. |
