Greetings from John Murray Moray Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.
It’s been a busy week here at the golf club with lessons, fittings, some yardage gapping sessions and a PING Fitting Day. As a result I’ve been struggling to find much time to catch up on my admin and get my newsletter out in time. Last weekend we had our first Capro Cup Qualifier during the Monthly Medal on the New Course. I’m currently working on the scores from the Capro Cup and so will have these available in the shop over the weekend and in next week’s newsletter. It’s great to see such a positive start to the Saturday competitions with around 150 players taking part last weekend. Just remember to sign in to the competition with ourselves in the shop, also sign in to the club systems terminal next to the fridge and finally remember to write your finishing time down on your scorecard before you post it. This week some of you will be lucky enough to enjoy a long weekend with the bank holiday Monday. Therefore we have decided to run a little special offer in the shop this weekend only with 10% discount on all Titleist products in store which includes our stock Drivers, Fairways, Hybrids, Golf Balls, Gloves and even Scotty Cameron Putters.
*However please be aware that this is current stock only and this does not apply to any custom club orders (std stock only) *
Have a great weekend and see you down on the links over the weekend! John

Wee Wonders Comes to Moray GC This Sunday we are hosting our first Wee Wonders regional qualifying event at Moray on Sunday, 6 May. The entries have now closed and I’m pleased to say we have 25 players signed up between 5-12 years old. Therefore the New Course will be rather busy this Sunday afternoon from 12pm as we shall be playing a nine hole course utilising holes 1-5 and 15-18. Hopefully we can see some stars of the future!

Battery Trade In Lithium batteries are quicker charging, last longer and work out cheaper in the long run than the standard Lead Acid alternatives, so it's time to say goodbye if you're still using one. As such, we'll give you £25 when you trade-in your old battery against a new Lithium one. Motocaddy has now made Lithium even more affordable, so this really is a fantastic opportunity to save yourself some money. Watch this video to find out why so many people are upgrading from Lead Acid to Lithium. |

Did you know we now stock Lynx? We have recently become a Lynx Golf stockist and custom fit centre offering an alternative to PING, Titleist and TaylorMade. The great thing about Lynx is that they have a number of different price points to meet every budget and you can get a set of irons from as little as £199. We have 3 sets currently in the shop which have prices ranging from £199-£599 and all of which can be custom fitted to your own ideal specifications. My personal favorites are the new Lynx Prowler VT Irons which come with a forged face and have the best of both worlds, looking like a players iron but with the length and forgiveness of a distance iron.
|
We also have a couple of special offers on our stock sets with a FREE Waterproof Stand Bag (£179) on a set of Prowler VT (5-PW £599) or a FREE Black Cat Cart Bag with a set of Lynx Parallax Irons. Look out over the coming months as we will have a Lynx Fitting day coming to Moray GC. However in the meantime if you would like to try out the equipment then come and have a chat with us.

Unplayable Ball Gordon’s drive at the 2nd Old ended up on the face of the left side bunker. There was no way he would be able to play his shot so he announced to Andrew that he was deeming his Ball unplayable, marked and lifted his Ball and chose option c of Rule 28 Dropping his Ball within 2 club lengths of where his Ball lay but not nearer the hole under penalty of 1 stroke. Gordon wasn’t too keen on where his Ball lay and decided to deem his Ball unplayable for the Second time and announced that he was going back to the tee and would be playing his 4th shot. Andrew was too happy that Gordon was proceeding correctly. Was this permissible?
Yes. Gordon was entitled to play from the tee because he had not made a stroke at the ball under Rule 28 option c in the bunker. The tee was the spot from which the original ball was last played. Well you learn something new every time you play said Andrew.
