Greetings from John Murray Moray Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC. |
Pro’s Day It’s just one day to Pro’s Day and I’ve got my fingers crossed for a decent day’s weather. I’m delighted to say that we have our biggest entry yet with a total of 39 team and 156 players taking to the Old Course. This year I’ll be running the bar at the 9th green as well as putting on my chef’s hat as we add burgers to this year’s menu. Check in will be in the pro shop where cards can be collected upon paying your £12 entry fee. I’ll be at Murray’s Tavern at the 9th Hole to make sure your all enjoying your day with refreshments and a burger available for everyone! Derek will be running a beat the Pro Event on the 15th hole where you can bet £5 and if you hit it closer, you will win a sleeve of Titleist Pro V1 Balls (worth £12) as well as 12 months bragging rights!! The good news is that if Derek beats you, then your money goes to Charity...It’s a Win...Win!! Finally drop your cards into the clubhouse where Steve Crane has kindly donated his time to help out with the scoring on the day. See you all on the links tomorrow!!

Undercover Teaching Bays I’m pleased to say that we have finally made progress with building a couple of undercover teaching bays at the bottom end of the practice area. These will predominantly be for Derek and I to continue to teach during inclement weather but will also be available for members to use when we are not using the area. Here are some pictures of the concrete base being put in by Moray member, Gary Stewart who has kindly donated his time to get the project off and running! We hope to get the next phase up and running over the next 4 weeks....Watch this space!

US Open Sweepstake - Oh No....We’ve had a slight situation!! We have had a bit of a situation ahead of the US Open Sweepstake draw. For once we were extremely organised and had our US Open sweepstake filled up a couple of weeks ago (a month before the event!) We had transferred all the numbers and names onto a spreadsheet ahead of the tee times being confirmed.....All Good so far!! Now is where the problem starts!! A member off staff (to remain unnamed) has accidentally thrown out our sweepstake board during a tidying frenzy and we also seem to have lost our saved spreadsheet (or its not been saved) As a result we now have no names and numbers to make our draw. I can only apologise for this mistake on our behalf and so we will ensure that all monies received will be refunded or added to a new draw board that we have made up in time for the event. Therefore if you have bought any squares for the event please get in touch and we will get your numbers organised.

Titleist AVX
Titleist are bringing the New Titleist AVX golf ball to the market in early July. The AVX utilises breakthrough core, cover and aerodynamic technology and is a premium performance golf ball for golfers who prioritise distance and extremely soft feel with a piercing, low ball flight.
It has been engineered to be the lowest flying, lowest spinning and softest feeling high performance golf ball in the Titleist line. I look forward to putting these to the test very soon! |

Lifting, Dropping and Placing; Playing from Wrong Place Bruce and Charlie played their 2nd shots to the 1st green Old and both balls finished up in foot prints in the bunker short left of the green and were touching. It was Bruce to play first and he asked Charlie to mark his Ball who saw his chance to have the foot prints raked when Bruce tidied up the bunker after his shot. Charlie’s marker had disappeared so they had to use their best judgement to Identify where Charlie had to place his Ball. When all this had been completed Bruce made the comment that Charlie had one more thing to do before he played his shot. What had Charlie still to do? Charlie was required under Rule 20-3b to recreate the footprints as near as possible because you are always entitled to the lie your shot had given you and hence the footprints have to be put back.

When it comes to purchasing golf equipment there are many factors that you need to take into consideration. One such factor is your shopping destination, so here are just a few reasons why we should be your number one stop for all things golf. |
There’s only one choice Unlike buying blind from the internet and hoping the specs you choose match up and nothing goes wrong, here in the shop you can test a vast range of products and see all the stats for yourself to help you make an informed purchase that you can have total confidence in. It's our custom fitting ethos that really separates us from buying elsewhere, which is something you really should take advantage of. | |

Two of the latest iron models that are proving very popular with our members are the TaylorMade M3 and M4. The former is packed with technology like Face Slots, Speed Pockets and tungsten weighting to suit better players looking for more distance, while the latter enjoys all these benefits in a larger head that is very forgiving. |
