Tatters Claims North of Scotland Crown
The North District Open Amateur Stroke-play Championship for the David Blair Trophy boiled down to a play-off between two members from Moray Golf Club which was held just down the road at Elgin Golf Club.
Going into the final 2 rounds, Stuart was in 14th place after two rounds of 71 and 69,
Kyle Godsman was leading after shooting two fine scores of 65 & 68. Stuart moved himself right into contention after a fantastic morning score of 63 (6 under par) which included a double bogey 6 at the first! He closed with a solid 67 which was matched by Kyle and both tied on 271, a 5 under par total.
Stuart beat Kyle, third in the previous weekend's North-east District Open at Peterhead, in a two-hole aggregate play-off - the first and the 18th - winning with eight shots (4-4) to Kyle's nine (4-5).
Congratulations to Stuart, its great to see two of Moray Golf Clubs finest competing at the National level, Kyle has shown great consistency posting in the top 10 in his last 5 events, and sits 10th overall in the Scottish Golf Unions Order of Merit.

Local Rule Change - Queries
The local rule change now allowing you to take relief from all artificially surfaced paths and tracks also includes the paths in front of the 16th green and also along the right side of the 16th fairway.
Billy's second shot at the 16th (New) hit the large rock on the right side of the fairway and rebounded 30 yards back over his head and finished up in the edge of the whins in an unplayable lie. Deeming his ball unplayable he elected to play his ball from where he had played it instead of 2 club lengths from where it lay in the whins. He picked up his ball and walked 30 yards down the fairway and dropped and played his ball onto the green. David was not too sure of this procedure and asked Billy to explain.
Billy informed him that you have 3 options when you deem your ball unplayable. (a). is always to play the shot again from where it was played. (b). Drop a ball keeping that point directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped with no limit to how far behind that point the ball maybe dropped. (c). drop a ball within 2 club lengths of the spot where the ball lay, but not nearer the hole. As Billy's original stroke was played from a place 30 yards ahead and under the rules he dropped and played his next shot from this position.
