Greetings from John Murray Moray Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC. |
What's Going On It’s been another great week’s weather on the whole down at the golf club and a busy week as we try to get ourselves ready for the biggest event of the year, The Moray Open!! Everything really kicks off on Saturday as we have the Tri-AM event (betterball) to ease people into the week’s golf. This is also when the majority of our 125 visitor competitors arrive and it’s great to see such familiar faces coming back year after year to play in this great event. We will be sponsoring the 4th Hole on the Old Course and will be running our usual Par 3 Challenge for competitors. Basically Bet (Min £5 / Max £20) and if you miss the green we will give you your money back in a voucher to be spent in the shop. Should you hit the green we will double your money (shop voucher). The only stipulation is that we ask you to please spend your vouchers during the week of the Open and that vouchers can’t be credited to accounts for spending at a later date. We have also managed to get TaylorMade Golf to come along on Tuesday between 9am - 1pm for anyone who wants to get fitted up or try out any of the latest and greatest technology. I understand this is tournament day and so not an ideal time but they had a cancelled an event just along the road and so offered us the opportunity to have them along for a few hours. Therefore if anyone would like to book in for a 30 min no obligation fitting slot then get in touch. Remember we have a great deal on at the moment. Buy any TaylorMade M3/M4 Driver, Fairway or Hybrid and we will give you a FREE dozen TaylorMade TP5/TP5x Golf Balls (worth £42.99). They will also be leaving me a bag full of the TaylorMade Spider Putters for our putting event on Thursday which starts from 3pm and finishes at 7pm (or if the weathers like last year probably nearer 10pm).

Scottish Open There was another exciting weeks golf down at Gullane Golf Club as South African, Brandon Stone shot a remarkable round of 60 to break the course record on the final day of the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open as he powered to victory by four strokes to cement his spot in the European Tour’s season-ending DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates’ Earth course from November 15-18 in emphatic style. The phenomenal final round performance was enough to help him overcome a log-jammed leaderboard and get his hands on the hefty winner’s cheque of €999,246 which sees him catapult up the Race to Dubai Rankings from 144th to 14th and secure a last minute place at the Open Championship. “To stand here as the Scottish Open champion is really incredible,” said 25 year old Stone. “A day when you shoot 60 and win the Scottish Open is something I'm going to hold dear to my heart for a very long time." What was even more amazing was that Stone gave himself around an 8 foot putt on the final green to become the first player on the European Tour to shoot a 59!! I’m sure he was slightly disappointed not to become the first to join the 59 Club, however a cheque for almost 1 million euros and a spot at the Open Championship probably helped ease the pain!!

If you haven’t used a push trolley for a while then it’s definitely worth trying one in the not too distant future. In years gone by they were made of metal and were heavy to use, but that couldn’t be further from the truth with today’s lightweight options. |
Nice and easy This BIG MAX IQ+ 360 push trolley is a great option and tips the scales at just 6.3kg, which makes it easy to push so you remain full of energy to the last hole. As well as its lightweight frame, it boasts a 360-degree front wheel so you can steer it to any spot effortlessly (watch our video to see for yourself), plus a handbrake and a spacious console that has room for all of your valuables and accessories. This is just one of the trolley options we offer, so if you’re looking for something with more features or that folds smaller, why not pop by the store and check out our whole range? |
