Beach Bar I was very sorry to see the local Beach Bar burnt to the ground last Saturday morning. I witnessed it first hand as I was coming into work at 06.20 to get ready for the Fisher League Open. The smoke was billowing over the houses and so I drove down to see what was happening and unfortunately saw the local bar up in flames.

Here’s hoping everything works out ok and that they manage to get the popular local bar back up and running before too long. |
Tour Championship Tiger Woods made it 80 career wins and one of the best career comebacks on the PGA tour as he won the Tour Championship by 2 shots. It’s been 5 years since Tigers last victory and many doubted if he would ever compete at that level again. It was great to watch the scenes as he holed his winning putt on the 18th as the crowds went crazy. Tiger’s world ranking was #1199 in December last year and now, just 10 months later he’s at number 13. Justin Rose managed to secure the FedEx crown and picked up a cool 10 million dollars in the process. However it took a birdie on the last to secure his title which he almost handed to Woods after bogeys at 11, 14 & 16. However he held his nerve to finish in style and become the first Englishman to lift the trophy.

Ryder Cup I can hardly contain myself as the Ryder Cup is finally here!! It’s going to be fascinating to see which pairings are created over the first day’s fourball and foursomes matches and hopefully we can build an early lead to take into days 2 and 3. The full coverage of the Ryder Cup will be available to watch in the clubhouse so why not pop down to the bar to watch the drama unfold with a bit of atmosphere and support your club in the process. The first tee time on Friday and Saturday morning will be 7.10am (UK time) with the following fourball matches starting at 7.25am, 7.40am and 7.55am.
In the afternoon the foursomes will start at 12.50pm (UK time), 1.05pm, 1.20pm and 1.35pm.
On Sunday the 12 singles matches will go off at the following times: 11.05am (UK time), 11.17am, 11.29am, 11.41am, 11.53am, 12.05pm, 12.17pm, 12.29pm, 12.41pm, 12.53pm, 1.05pm and 1.17pm. Hope to see you watch all over the weekend and here’s hoping we’ve something to celebrate come Sunday evening!!

Northern Counties Cup Moray’s two teams were well represented in the Northern Counties Cup at Royal Aberdeen Golf Club. Moray 1 (Kyle Godsman, Graham Murray, Stuart Tatters, Malcolm Macleman) trying to retain the trophy after winning the event last year made it to the semi-finals but were eventually beaten by 2 holes to a strong Forres side. Moray 2 (Paul McHardy, Jordan Edwards, Neil Stables and Ryan Copland) went one step further beating Banchory in the semi-finals before also being beaten by Forres Golf Club in the final by 4 holes. It’s fair to say both teams did amazingly well and here’s hoping they can go one better next year.

Castle Stuart We took a group of members along to Castle Stuart Golf Links on Sunday for our annual member’s golf day. Thankfully the weather was a slight improvement on what we had earlier in the week and despite a few showers, everyone managed to enjoy the course and the company. We ran a stableford competition on the day to keep things a little interesting and it was Andrew Botley who took top honors with a fantastic 43 points and won himself a Castle Stuart Sweatshirt, while Andrew finished in second place with 35 points to win himself a Castle Stuart logo shirt. |

Thanks to everyone who came along to the day and hope to see you again next year! |

Fancy Playing Pebble Beach?? Some of you may already have heard or noticed us trying to clear out the upstairs junior room behind the secretary’s office. It’s still early days but we are hoping to better utilise this space and turn it into an indoor golf studio with a full Foresight sports golf simulator. Our plans are to knock down a wall between the junior room and one of the current storage rooms and create one large space which will allow members and guests to benefit from all year round golf. We hope to have around 15 different courses which can be played in full regardless of what’s going on outside including the likes of Pebble Beach, Carnoustie, Oakmont, Merion and Royal Birkdale. This will also allow us to improve our lesson and custom fitting offering, offer ball fittings, gapping sessions, nearest the pin and long drive competitions and give you a huge amount of information on what your ball and club head are doing at the point of impact.
|
We will keep you up to date with how things are progressing. Unfortunately the current job is to gut out the current store room which is challenging in itself!! |
New irons to improve your game |
Buying a set of clubs is exciting, but can be a tricky decision - you might love the look of the short irons, but feel a bit daunted by the longer clubs further up the set. However, you can always mix and match your clubs so that your long irons are more forgiving and your short irons are more workable, allowing you to strike approach shots from any distance with confidence. |
Mix & match with Lynx Why not try combining the short irons of Lynx's Forged CB series with the longer irons of the Prowler VT? The VT's extra forgiveness, provided by a hollow head design, gives you better performance on any off-centre strikes, meaning that your long iron shots won't stray as wide when you mishit the ball. Combine this with the Forged CB's short irons, which feature a narrow sole, thin topline and minimal offset for better workability and increased confidence lower down the set, and you'll be peppering the flags from your wedges up to your long irons. Could mixing sets be the answer you've been looking for? |
