Winter Cup Week One Last weekend we had the first week of the Winter Cup over the new course. After a few teething problems moving everyone’s handicaps over to winter chaps on the club systems software we finally managed to get the results posted during the week. We should now be able to process the cards in the usual fashion with everyone checking in on the shop terminal, paying their monies at the counter and then entering their own scorecards into the terminal in the clubhouse. The conditions were ideal for golf in week one with some very favorable scoring conditions in play. On Saturday we had 59 players take to the course. In Division One, Aaron Casey took top spot with 39 points, ahead of Davie Johnston (37 points) with Atholl Campbell (36 points) completing the podium. In Division Two, Blair Fraser shot out the blocks with a huge 41 points, but only just beat Andrew Botley on a BIH after he also managed to match the score. Richard Denning took third place on a BIH, only one point behind the leaders. Magic twos were worth £6 to the following players; Iain Ross, AM Campbell x 2, G. Hamilton, JD Petrie, Jay Anderson, AM Bruce, JS Rae and S. Rothnie. On Sunday we had a smaller field of 30 players take to the course. Ross Duncan blew the field apart in Division One and saw a two shot handicap reduction as he scored a massive 43 points which was five ahead of Colin McNeil (38 points) in second place. John MacGregor won Division Two with 39 points, three shots ahead of Michael Murgatroyd who finished in second place with 36 points. Magic twos were worth £7 to the following players; Colin McNeil, SJ Houston, G. Simpson and A. Donegan.
