Happy New Year!!
We hope you all managed to get a break over the festive period. Derek, Alan and I are feeling rejuvenated and can’t wait to get going in 2019. We’ve got a massive year coming up and looking forward to some of the events and offerings we will have in the coming weeks. |
Next week we have Foresight Sports coming to install our simulator which should be finished by the end of the week. Derek and I will have a few finishing touches to make to the room as well as getting ourselves up to speed with the system before we officially open. We can’t wait to help you all achieve your golfing goals in 2019. Look out for some of our planned members events in the coming weeks. Here’s a quick photo of Derek trying out the Foresight Simulator while we were attending a training day this week at Carnoustie:

Quiz Night Derek and I hosted the last quiz of 2018 and it was great to see so many people come along to the event and see the clubhouse so busy!! Well done to Hamish Cameron, Nicki Brown and Ally Mowatt who won the Quiz.
The quiz season restarted this Thursday with Pete McLeod as the quiz master. So why not get out the house and get the brain kick started for 2019!

New 2019 Rules of Golf As we entered into the New Year, many of us were still unaware that the new 2019 rules of golf have already come into effect. There are quite a number of changes, some which may or may not be added under local rules once the committee meets at the end of January. However here is a breakdown of the 20 most important changes which are now in play, many of which have been brought in to try to speed up the pace of play which can only be a good thing!!
I’d love to hear your views and opinions on the new rules changes. Click here to leave any comments.

Stotfield Trophy It was great to see so many of you on January 2nd for the Stotfield Trophy or String Competition as many of you know it. We had a full field with 27 teams making it onto the course for the 10am shotgun start. We had the usual chaotic hour in the Pro Shop prior to the event as Derek and I took the entry fees, dished out cards and of course measured out everyone’s string for the event. (1185 feet of string to be precise!!!). Derek and I have made it one of our goals to try to reduce everyone’s handicaps during the 2019 season to help make our lives easier come next year’s event!! Congratulations to Ken Scott who won the Individual Competition while Mark Spence, Mark Aspinall and Bill Gibson who retained the trophy with a cracking score of 57. Well Done Chaps!! Individual Scores K. Scott (8) 66; G. M. Stewart (13) 67; S. M. Crane (14), J. D. Petrie (5), C. Roberts (7), W. B. Johnston (8) 70; A. R. Souter (14), G. Sutherland (13) 71

If last year’s “Beast from the East” taught us anything, it’s that you definitely need a golf-specific rain jacket when you’re playing golf in the early months of the season. |
Indeed, you might be thinking twice about taking to the course when the forecast doesn't look great this month - and we don't blame you if you're as ill-prepared as the golfer in the photo above. But we have the perfect solution in-store that'll keep you dry whilst playing golf in a downpour. ProQuip's Pro-Flex EVO jacket - shown in the second photo here - comes with Teflon coating and is made from an incredibly lightweight fabric, helping to keep you protected during the most brutal of conditions. This isn't the only piece of stylish rainwear that we have in-store, so be sure to pop in for a browse next time you're at the club.
