For those of you that didn’t already know, I’ve had had a midlife crisis on turning 40 last year and decided it might be fun to run the London Marathon! There were really 3 reasons for entering the race. Firstly I wanted to set myself a personal challenge to really push me to the limits. Secondly I had also decided that after a couple years with very little real exercise, that I needed to get fit again and, what better way than training for and running the London Marathon. Finally, my third reason was to try to raise money for my chosen charity, Parkinson’s UK.
This is a charity close to my heart as my Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and lived with the disease for the last 5 years of his life. Therefore I’m hoping that I can run this in memory of my Dad and at the same time do my little bit towards helping the charity to achieve its mission to find a cure and bring forward the day when no one fears Parkinson’s. If you would like to come along next Saturday after your game of golf then please come along in your golfing groups and have a go.
