Well it’s finally here...it’s Masters Week!! Who do you think is going to lift the green jacket?

Will McIlroy continue his good form or will Speith find form at the right time on the Augusta greens? Whatever happens I’m sure it will be an exciting finish as always.

Last year we ran a new event on Sunday afternoon...The Moray Masters which was a 9 hole par 3 shootout with some interesting Masters style pin positions and it was John Watson who collected the Green Jacket last year. Unfortunately we have had to postpone the event for 1 year as Derek is away sunning himself in Cancun and I’m playing “Best Man” at one of my good friend’s wedding. Can you believe that he’s actually a golf professional himself and he’s having his wedding on Masters Sunday!! However as best man I took it upon myself to ensure that there was a Large Screen TV at the back of the room for the back 9 on Sunday!

Therefore John Watson will retain the Green Jacket for another year until we restart the event next year. I’ve already sent an email out to all my friends saying I’m not available for weddings on Masters Sunday 2020!

Tour news

Augusta National Women’s Amateur

Last week it was the women’s game that was creating stories at Augusta as it hosted the final round of the first Augusta National Women’s Amateur. The final round only had a field of 30, but had an attendance well into the thousands and it was shown live on NBC television network which surely extended its reach into the millions. After a close battle early on, the world’s leading amateur, Jennifer Kupcho played the historically treacherous last six holes in five under par to prevail by four shots over Mexico’s Maria Fassi.

What a great way to promote Women’s golf to the world and here’s hoping it’s just the beginning

Speaking about encouraging women’s golf, I’m currently putting together some dates for our Ladies Get into Golf Coaching Sessions. These sessions will initially run for 4 weeks beginning in May. If you know anyone who would be interested then please pass on their contact details (email please) to the Pro Shop.

Jeff Off To A Flyer

The Scottish Champion of Champions tournament at Leven this weekend was won by Forres golfer Jeff Wright on 279 (5 under par) with Moray golfer Kyle Godsman in second place on 287.

Hootannany

Our next event is Hootannany’s at Moray Golf Club on Saturday 13th April from 6.30pm. Check out the poster below for further details.

We expect the live music to go on until around 9pm. Hopefully many of you will stay on to watch moving day at the US Masters as the world’s best try to position themselves for a final day charge towards picking up the Green Jacket and being crowned Masters Champion 2019.

PING Sigma 2

This week we had some new PING Sigma 2 Putters arrive in stock

So what’s different about these putters I hear you ask?

Well these putters have a new adjustable length shaft which allows you to experiment with lengths between 32-36”. A new adjustment tool allows you to do this while not affecting the grips alignment.

There are a total of 10 head styles. My favourite is called the “Fetch” which allows you to pick your ball off the green or out of the cup without bending down to pick it up.

More to it than you think...
