Greetings from John Murray Moray Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC. |
Well I Made It!! I’m delighted to say I made it to the finish line and picked up my London Marathon Finishers Medal! What an amazing day and the atmosphere was nothing like I’ve ever experienced! I spent the first 5 miles high fiving all the kids at the side of the road and did have a chuckle to myself after mile 2 when one of the children shouted.... “well done, you’re doing great, you’re nearly there!!” If only!! Things were going great and I had decided to aim for a time around 4 hours 20 mins after a few injuries had made my initial sub 4 hour target a touch out of reach. However after mile 7, I began to feel my knees stiffen up and in the miles that followed my left knee in particular started to cause me some discomfort. The crowds were unbelievable and the number of people shouting your name in support (it was on my top) was unreal and it made a huge difference and really spurred me on. The highlight was probably running over Tower Bridge, which was so loud and quite emotional. As I ticked off each mile, my knee unfortunately got worse and by the time I saw my on course support team at one of the Parkinson’s Cheer Points (mile 19), I was really struggling. The last 7 miles of the Marathon were so tough and I could hardly walk let alone run. I really had to dig deep at this point and it was certainly the spectators support and all the words of encouragement I’d received in the days and weeks leading up to the event which helped me get through those painful, long, never ending 7 miles!! It might not have been the way I’d have liked to of run the event but regardless of my time it was a wonderful experience and a great feeling to run (hobble) over the finish line. Thanks again to everyone who supported me and especially those of you who donated to my chosen charity, Parkinson’s UK. I still have to add up my donations which were handed into the shop and then add these to my online donation page to get my final total but it’s currently looking like I’ve smashed my initial £2000 target and the final total is closer to £5000 which is absolutely amazing......thank you so much!!

Be honest, how much thought do you put into the golf ball that you play? Probably not as much you do your clubs but considering the ball is in play on every single shot, using any old thing that you find at the bottom of your bag could be leaving you paddling uphill. |
| Which Titleist ball to play? |
|
The first question to ask is: What do you want from your ball? Obviously, getting the thing in the hole in as few shots as possible is the ultimate goal, but there are many paths to getting there. There are balls that offer impressive distance, such as the Titleist Velocity, whilst others that provide incredible feel, such as DT TruSoft. But if you are looking for total performance without sacrificing on any one element, Titleist's Pro V1, Pro V1x and AVX balls are truly phenomenal. With subtle differences between each, this is where having a chat with a member of our PGA qualified team will have you leaving with the best ball for your game - what will yours be? |
