Greetings from John Murray Moray Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC. |
USPGA Championship It was another impressive Major display from Brooks Koepka as he almost dominated the event from start to finish. A ridiculous 63 on the opening day when everyone else was struggling to make pars set the scene for the next 3 days. However the ever cool Koepka certainly had a wobble in the final round when 4 bogeys in a row meant his lead was down to only a single shot! However this only lasted for about 5 mins as the nearest challenger, Dustin Johnston couldn’t take advantage as bogeys at 16 & 17 gave Koepka a much smoother ride to the final green where he collected Major Number 4. Here are the results from the pro shop sweepstake:
|
It’s now only a few weeks until the third Major of the year, The US Open. Can Koepka continue his dominance and make it 3 wins in a row? It’s sure to be exciting as always and just to add to your excitement we are starting our latest sweepstake at £3 per player or 4 for £10 in the shop. Come in past and get yours! |
Desert Springs I’ve returned from a few days away golfing out in Spain. We visited Desert Springs golf resort which boasts second stage European Tour qualifying and the EuroPro Tour. Now as much as my golf wasn’t up to that standard, I’m happy to say I played better than expected having not played much before now due to my Marathon exploits.
|
However it looks like the weather was just as good back here in Lossiemouth. I noticed a huge difference to the colour of the fairways after only being away 5 days. Thankfully we had some prolonged rain which fell on Saturday during Monthly Medal 2 and since then too. Kevin’s rain dance must have done the trick!
So if you ended up like a drowned rat on Saturday, just think, you were taking one for the benefit of the golf course condition! |
We have a busy few weeks ahead with a couple of fitting days next week. Most overlooked club in the bag? |
Thankfully, the penny has dropped when it comes to the importance of getting custom fitted for a new driver or set of irons. Unfortunately, we still see the vast majority of golfers overlook this process when it comes to their fairway woods, but why? |
| How often do you use yours? |
|
“I wouldn’t use it often enough” “It's too expensive” “It's not necessary” Yeah, I guess if you’re not concerned with shooting lower scores and maximising your potential then a custom fitted fairway wood isn’t that important. However, if improving your game is something you want to achieve, then having a full set of custom fitted clubs is vital, especially when it comes to gapping between your driver and irons.
|
Lynx Black Cat fairway woods One option that we'll definitely get you to try is this beauty from Lynx. Updated for 2019 with this confidence-inspiring colourway, the Black Cat has an improved sweet spot and better forgiveness thanks to its Effective Energy Transfer.
So, let’s get you booked in for a custom fitting with a member of the team and harness your potential with the most overlooked club in the bag. |
