The Winter Cup starts next weekend 8th/9th November on the Old Course. There are a list of fixtures on the club and pro shop noticeboards with the format and rules for the competition. You can also view these by clicking here.
There is a £3 entry fee (payable on 1st week) to join the Winter Cup which goes towards the overall prizes, and then £3 entry per competition. There will also be a 2's competition (£1) running (please circle any 2's on your cards)!!
Anyone looking for a playing partner for the winter cup should book into one of the slots booked as Winter Cup on the BRS booking system. This week I was through at Nairn Golf Club with Titleist and FootJoy who were holding their stock rooms for next season. FootJoy have a whole new range of shoes which look great and Titleist are about to launch their new 915 range of Metal Woods which have been getting some great reviews so far. We will have these both in store in early 2015.
I am still undecided on my final clothing brands for next year and so I'm looking for a little help from you guys if possible. The brands I'm looking at are as follows - FootJoy, Nike, adidas, Under Armour.

With the clocks changing at the weekend we have certainly seen a change in traffic taking to the golf course. However despite the time of year, the courses are still in good condition and we are still playing on full tees and greens. Last week the Old Course greens were hollow cored and Kevin and his staff have been trying hard to get these all top dressed and fill in the holes (when the weather allows!)

European Tour - Scots
It's a nervous time of year for many of the European Tour Professionals as the last counting event of the season, The Perth International took place last weekend with many players fighting for their playing rights for the 2015 season. Well Done to Scotland's Craig Lee and David Drysdale who managed to keep their playing privileges for next season.
Drysdale left it to the final hole to produce a heroic birdie 3 with a 30 foot putt to clinch his card with a joint 4th position. Click here to see Drysdales putt. It just goes to show the fine lines between success and failure at this level!

I see a lot of electric trollies that are inefficient due to a faulty or worn part. This makes the trolley have to work harder and reduces the life of your battery. A yearly service will go a long way to maintaining your trolley and battery life.
If you would rather not get a service then make sure you take a damp cloth and give your trolley a good wipe down to remove dirt and grime from the wheels and undercarriage of the trolley.

Golf Spikes

Golf Grips
It is recommended that you change your grips every season or every 40 rounds.......not many of you probably do that!!

Craig's ball lies on the front of the putting green but casual water lies on his line of putt. However the nearest position affording complete relief which is not nearer the hole or in a hazard is off the green in the rough. If he opts to take relief, must he place or drop the ball in the rough?
Aaron who was playing with him that day informed Craig that he must place the ball in the rough under Rule 25-1b(iii). Had he dropped and played his ball he would have been penalised 2 strokes under Rule 20-6
