Last week saw the Annual Prize Giving take place on Friday and the start of the Winter Cup on Saturday.
There was a good turnout for the Clubs Annual Prize Giving. The evening started at 7.30pm with our Captain, John Ellwood saying a few words before he passed the microphone to our secretary, Stevie Grant who announced the prize-winners. The prize winners were presented with their trophies and had their photos taken with the Captain. I have somehow managed to be given the unofficial title of cameraman for the last few years. However I can say that this year we shall actually do something with the photos! I have already uploaded these to the Moray Golf Club & Pro Shop Facebook page and these will also become available on the clubs website sometime soon.
The evening finished with the Ladies, Junior, Senior and Mens Club Champions being presented with Malcolm L Macleman saying a few word to finish off the evening. Thanks to everyone who was present on the evening and congratulations to all the prize-winners.
For those of you who failed to win anything this year, click here to book a Golf Lesson!! But in all seriousness we do have a winter golf package available for anyone wishing to work on their game over the chillier months. For only £99 you can have 4 x 30 minute golf lessons (to be taken by 31st March).
The winter cup started last weekend over the Old Course with a great turnout. We had 58 players play on the Saturday alone and a total of 89 over the weekend. A great sign in the 1st week and the best turnout in the last few years.
Magic 2's were worth £10.25 to the following players
4th - N Simpson
6th - W F Thomson, M Dixon, K Scott, D Thewliss, K Walker, J Sinton, G McDonald.
Handicap Reductions
D Mckenzie 6 To 5
M Watson 7 To 6
J Spence 20 To 19
Pending - L Tough, T Scholefield N Simpson.
Could players please make sure that they mark their handicaps down and sign their cards. Failure to have this information will result in disqualification from that round. Last weekend we had 7 cards with no handicap and 3 cards unsigned.....tut, tut!!!!

Night Golf Anyone?
I am planning to hold a Night Golf Event sometime in the coming months. My initial plan would be to have this on a Friday or Saturday evening and would include playing 4 holes in the pitch dark but with some help from LED Golf Balls and glowsticks lining the hazards (red) fairways (white), greens (green funnily enough) and flagstick.
The equipment doesn't come cheap so there would be a cost of approx £15 per person and I would throw in a few drinks to get everyone in the mood!! Although I certainly don't condone drinking and driving!!
Click here to view a video to give you an idea of what it would look like and click here to get in touch if you would be interested in having a go!
Craig's ball lies on the front of the putting green but casual water lies on his line of putt. However the nearest position affording complete relief which is not nearer the hole or in a hazard is off the green in the rough. If he opts to take relief, must he place or drop the ball in the rough?
Aaron who was playing with him that day informed Craig that he must place the ball in the rough under Rule 25-1b(iii). Had he dropped and played his ball he would have been penalised 2 strokes under Rule 20-6.
