Seniors Christmas lunch

Derek and I were special guests at this year’s Seniors Christmas Lunch on Tuesday which was a great day out as always and thanks to everyone for making us feel so welcome as always. We ran a nearest the pin competition upstairs in the Performance Centre and congratulations to Mal Sharp on winning the event with his best effort finishing 5ft 10” from the hole at the famous 7th hole at Pebble Beach.

We also had a special appearance from Santa who handed out presents to those of us that were good enough!

I was lucky enough to be given something although I’m not quite sure what he’s trying to tell me?

Christmas quiz - Thursday 19th December

Tonight Derek and I are playing quizmasters at the Christmas Quiz which is always a busy night and we like nothing more than leaving it to the very last minute to finalize our 6 rounds of questions! Remember the quizmaster is always right!

Christmas dance - Saturday 21st December

This Saturday we have the Christmas Dance in the clubhouse with local band The 40 Elephants playing between 9-12pm and tables available between 6-8pm for dinners with our caterers Eat on the Green. However, tables are nearly full with nearly 60 tables already booked but if you're looking at coming along on the night get your tables booked up before it’s too late.

Moray Golf Club and The Great War

A limited edition of a book celebrating the lives of those members who feature on the club's memorial plaque is being printed at the moment and will be available in early December.

This book is based on extensive research from various resources and includes contemporary minutes, background information on each member named on the plaque as well as information on Alexander and George Eric Edwards (commemorated on the sundial above the 18th green).

It provides insights into the club's thoughts at the time (a time when being on the front line was not considered sufficient reason for remitting of fees) but primarily is an attempt to make sure that those who made the supreme sacrifice are not forgotten.

A foreword is provided by Lieutenant General Sir Alistair Irwin, KCB CBE great grandson of former Captain John Fleetwood Cumming and great nephew of Lewis Robertson Cumming (the first casualty).
