COVID-19 update Here we are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation on a daily basis and will act in accordance with government advice. At our golf club, members are being encouraged to carry on playing golf with the Moray golf club team striving to provide the game in the safest possible environment. We also recognise that the health and wellbeing of playing this great game benefit all age groups. The UK’s chief scientific adviser has responded to a health select committee question about playing golf during the coronavirus crisis by effectively saying it is an activity that is allowable. The question was put forward by Dean Russell MP. He asked: “Exercise is going to be key [especially for older people]. If someone wants to play golf, can they still do that if they’re not close together?” Sir Patrick Vallance stated: “We’re not asking everyone to be completely isolated. The specific advice is to avoid close contact. A walk is OK if you keep a distance.” So good news for now and surely there aren’t many better places to be when trying to deal with the current situation we all find ourselves in. The range and practice facilities will remain open and members can bring guests with the Pro Shop OPEN to deal with bookings, golfing essentials & purchase transactions. It is essential where possible that members keep golfing, support the Pro Shop, clubhouse bar and catering facilities to ensure the survival of our club. • The Pro Shop will try to retain current shop opening hours at present • Members are requested to keep a safe distance from others whilst in the shop and limit the handling of clubs in the shop. • Buggy & trolley hire remains available with equipment sanitised between users. • Credit card transactions would be preferred rather than cash with contactless used where possible. • Our coaching and fitting facilities will remain open for bookings. We will have some stringent controls and precautions in place both in the shop and indoor studio to ensure these are as safe as possible. We will also aim to move the majority of our lessons and fittings onto the golf course and outdoors where possible in the coming weeks. As government information is liable to change we are monitoring the situation and will react when required. Golf clubs remain (with care) as close to a ‘safe haven’ as exists, away from this exceptionally tough set of circumstances. Keep calm wash your hands & keep playing Golf... John
