First 18 holes back...

I managed to get my first full round of golf in since lockdown along the road at nearby Hopeman Golf Club.

It was great to finally get out from behind my Perspex screen and get out for a game. My caddy, Boo helped me round with some sound advice although, wasn't much help on the greens!

A little rusty but certainly better than I was expecting!

Members pull together

Thanks to all the members who gave up their spare time on Monday to help the green staff repair divots out on the Old Course.

We had around 25 fly around the entire Old Course in around 90 minutes which, was amazing and it really helps out the green staff who otherwise would be struggling to keep up with these types of job.

Well done to all those involved!

Congratulations to Sean Bradshaw on his hole-in-one on the 6th hole of the New Course on Sunday. Sean had his ace witnessed by his playing partner Joel Quigley.

Shop news

Sign up for the Pro Shop Stablefords

The Pro Shop will be running a number of non-counting Stableford events over the next few weeks until we can get back to a revised fixture list in the near future.

These Stableford events will be run using an app-based scoring system, golfhubber which allows scores to be recorded in real-time on your mobile devices (while we are not permitting scorecards) and posted on a live leaderboard which you can view at any time.

These competitions will be £3 to enter with optional Pro Shop Ball Raffle and Magic 2’s at a further £1 each as per usual summer competition entries. Prizes will be paid out from the Pro Shop with values based on the number of entries.

Entry fees can be paid in the shop before play and we request that all payments are made via contactless payment where possible.

Golf on Tour

The PGA Tour is back

Did you manage to catch a glimpse of the PGA Tour’s return last weekend?

It was quite a stellar field with lots of the world’s best taking the opportunity to dust off the cobwebs ahead of what’s set to be a fantastic few months in the golfing calendar.

One player that caught our eye was Bryson DeChambeau. Now, he’s known as being very scientific and analytic in his approach to the game. For example, he’s been seen spraying water over his balls on the range to mimic the dewy conditions he finds himself in during the early morning rounds. Not a bad idea!

Well, the American looked like a completely different person last week and has spent much of the past few months hitting the gym in a bid to add extra distance to his game. Something he vowed he would do last year and has truly delivered!

That being said, if you feel like you want to hit the ball further, it could take something as simple as a little tweak to your swing – an area we can certainly help with!
