I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.

It's been a pretty poor week on the weather front firstly with high winds and rain and in the last couple of days our first snowfall closing the course.

Derek has been down at the Belfry for his 1st year PGA Residential this week. This involves spending a week at the PGA Training Academy which is on site at the Belfry but unfortunately no time to play the course!! Derek will have classes on a number of different topics which he will cover during his 3 years training. This includes Golf Coaching, Sports Science, Business, Rules of Golf, Equipment Technology, Repairs and custom fitting......A busy week all round!!

I took the trip down to a TaylorMade Training day held at Kingsfield Driving Range in Linlithgow this week. This is where TaylorMade house their Scottish fitting centre. We spent quite a lot of time going through all the new products available, highlighting and discussing the features and benefits of each club before getting the chance to hit the new product.

TaylorMade have 2 new options, The R15 and the AeroBurner. The R15 is the premium product and the Driver has 4 degrees of loft adjustment and 2 x 12.5 gram weights which can be put into any of 4 main settings to help maximise distance, control or help with that problem slice or hook. The Driver is available in a white or black finish and there are fairways and rescue options available (only in white).

     

The AeroBurner on the other hand is a non adjustable Driver, fairway and rescue. This product is built with distance in mind and incorporates a new raised centre crown and aero hosel to improve its aerodynamics. TaylorMade's longest open channel speed pocket ever also help make this TaylorMade's most flexible faced driver yet. This all equates to MORE DISTANCE!!

    

New Equipment Stock Arrives

We are planning our own test with the latest Drivers from Titleist, PING and TaylorMade. If anyone would like to be involved in trying these new Drivers and putting them to the test on our launch monitor then click here to get in touch.

The Gustbuster Challenge

During the poor weather we have come up with our next video instalment.....The Gustbuster Challenge. I basically put a Sports Direct Umbrella to the test against a TaylorMade umbrella to see which would could cope with the gale force winds down at the Moray Links!!

Billy and John were drawn together to play in the Lady Gordon. John brought along his son, Brian, to caddie for him and when they were walking down the 8th fairway Brian accidentally stepped on and moved Billy's ball. Knowing that there would be a penalty John asked "Is that loss of hole or a one stroke penalty?" What was Billy's answer?

John was reassured when Billy said it was not loss of hole but a one stroke penalty. He added that if John or Brian had stood on Billy's ball while they were searching for Billy's ball there would be no penalty (Rule 18-3a)
