I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.
The cold snap is still with us at Moray GC and although the course is back open, it's still a bit hard under foot and on temporary greens. Hopefully we will be back to a full course by the weekend.
We have the annual Burns Supper in the clubhouse this Saturday night. Somehow I have been talked into giving the "toast to the lassies" so I'm now away to work on my last minute speech!! It's sure to be a great night however bad my speech is, and so hopefully I'll get a chance to chat with a few of you on the night and enjoy a whisky in memory of the great man!!
As you may know Derek was away at the Belfry last week for his PGA Residential, I'll hand over to him now to take you through his week.
My week at the Belfry was a great experience, meeting with all my fellow assistant professionals as well as our lecturers and tutors who have passed on some great information. Day one was really an administration day, however we worked with a mind coach at the end of the day just before our business exam. A few of the boys were panicking about this, but thankfully I found it pretty straightforward.
The next day revolved around Sports Science where we looked specifically at junior development which really interests me and I have picked up some great ideas for our own juniors.
Wednesday was my golf coaching day with Steven Orr (brother of Gary Orr) Steven is a PGA Advanced Coach and a highly thought of guy in the coaching world.
My Thursday was spent with the equipment technology and custom fitting guys who were amazing at what they do. We had to build clubs from their component form and were talked through the correct procedure for custom fitting.
Friday was my Golf Business day looking at preparing us for our exam and also going through how to stock a shop.
All in all a very busy and interesting week, only thing I won't miss is the £6 a cider or beer in the bar at the Belfry!
New Equipment Stock Arrives
We've now taken our full stock and demo equipment of the new Titleist 915 wood range which looks amazing, and from initial testing performance is incredible. Along with the latest launch monitor technology we have all the equipment to find the perfect driver for your game. Here's a wee video of the latest technology to go into the new range
Click here to watch the video.
We are planning our own test with the latest Drivers from Titleist, PING and TaylorMade. If anyone would like to be involved in trying these new Drivers and putting them to the test on our launch monitor then click here to get in touch.
This week's winter cup was affected by the weather, with the closure of the course on Saturday meaning Sunday was the only day available to play, and with the poor conditions only a few hardy souls managed. From the 10 who played, Andy Donegan took first place by a point from Neil Stewart.

Q. Billy and Neil were on the 6th Tee with Neil having the honour. He was unsure of the club that he was going to play and asked Billy what club he had played for his 2nd shot at the 5th as it was roughly the same distance.
If Billy told Neil would they both be penalised under Rule 8-1.
A. There would be No penalty to either player .
