We hope you're safe and well.

It's been a cold week and the courses have been on winter greens for the majority of the time. However I'm sure the greens have been enjoying a wee break from all the traffic they've been getting during January!

I've been keeping busy with some online product training with Titleist and PING and a "Get Going with Instagram" course in conjunction with the Lossiemouth Business Association. 

I've also committed to six weeks of healthy eating and no alcohol as I join half the nation with the usual New Year resolutions. I've not been able to do much exercise with the exception of walking Boo (My Dog) and I am still to get my first game of golf in 2021 as I've been struggling with a bad back. Thankfully it's feeling much better and I'm hoping i'll manage to get out on the links very soon.

This week was also the birthday of Scotland's famous poet, Rabbie Burns. Unfortunately we can't celebrate the day with a burns supper at the club, but I'm delighted that we do have a video recital by one of our members (James Macpherson) for you all to enjoy.

Golf on Tour

Hatton outshines McIlroy

Rory McIlroy opened the new European Tour season in an all-too-familiar fashion last weekend. The Northern Irishman was part of a fascinating tug-of-war battle with Tyrrell Hatton at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, only to be completely outplayed by Hatton during the final 18 holes.

Just about every player’s bag was brimming with new, exciting-looking equipment; both Hatton and McIlroy heading into battle with brand-new drivers and fairway woods from their respective brands.

Virtual Golf 3

We are planning on running our next virtual golf event, The Moray Desert Classic between Thursday 11th February and Sunday 14th February

The cost is £10 per entry.

I will host a Facebook LIVE post each night (Moray Golf Club & Pro Shop) which will take between 30-45 minutes (subject to entries) and each player will be drawn their daily score (anywhere from 63-83) from our random number generator wheel. We will run some additional daily competitions like Nearest the Pin/Longest Drive so there’s always a chance to win right until the end.

I will be posting the results on the Facebook page around 30 minutes after the live broadcast has finished and you don’t need to watch the live broadcast or be a golfer to take part!

We will once again be donating 10% of the entry to the Ladybird group and the remaining entry fee will be fully paid out in prizes with first prize being a Scotty Cameron Putter (Subject to entries).
