I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.
The weather continues to be mixed at best and not ideal golfing conditions. However it's good to see some of you hardy golfers out there regardless of the weather!! Or maybe it's just the alternative just isn't as appealing!!
We are still running our January Sale for another 2 weeks. Yes, I know it's now February, but they don't do signage for February Sale so we shall just stick with January Sale.
We have some great deals on Galvin Green (Going Fast) with 40% OFF all remaining stock as with all clothing. We have some great shoe deals if your feet are the right size (Ideal if you're a 10.5!!!) We also want to clear our remaining stand bags before the new stock arrives.

Yardage Gapping
One of the biggest problem most amateurs golfer face is not knowing how far they hit each club. We are now offering a yardage gapping service which will include a 45 min session with our GC2 launch monitor to accurately measure the distance of each club. This also helps to identify any distance gaps in your current equipment.
Sessions cost £25 and you'll receive an email with your yardages but also a bag tag to keep these numbers close to hand.
Iron Test
Last weekend I took some of the new irons from TaylorMade, Titleist and PING along with my own TaylorMade MC iron to see how each would fare against each other. The test was done on my GC2 launch monitor which records ball speed in MPH, launch angle, spin rate and yardage carry. Each shot was hit with a 7 Iron from each manufacturer and all were in a standard stiff shaft.
Here were my results:
I have to say I was rather surprised with my averages with all the clubs. The biggest surprise was that I was carrying the ball 17 yards further with the new TaylorMade RSi1 which is a huge gain and makes me think about whether I should be upgrading!!!
This test was purely based on Distance as the main object and it was no real surprise that the distance irons RSi1, G30 and AP1 were certainly longer than the more player/controlled irons in AP2 and TM MC, but I was surprised how long the RSi2 was and how much longer the RSi was over the G30 and AP1.
However it should be noted that this was only a distance test and didn't measure how accurate I was with each of these clubs. It's all very well being able to hit the ball further but no use if its just further into the bushes!!!

New Fitting and Demo Sets In stock
Following on from our testing, we have been receiving lots of demo product and our rental sets for the season. This really gives us a huge range of product available for you the members and customers of Moray Pro Shop to try out on the course or range.
We have the New RSi iron ranges, AeroBurner and R15 woods ranges available in various lofts and shafts.
We also have Titleist Stiff and Regular Demo sets with Ap1 & AP2 irons, 915 Drivers, fairways and hybrids available.
Finally we also have a PING G30 demo set with regular steel irons, G30 Driver, Fairway and hybrid all available to trial on the course at NO CHARGE!!!!
The only thing that we ask is for you to leave some form of security….car keys, drivers license etc. Now this isn't because we don't trust you! It just helps to make sure people return our demos after their game. We get lots of requests for club trials and so we really can't lend them out for longer than one round at a time to make sure we have these available for others and for us to carry out club fittings for those wishing to purchase clubs.
For those of you who have recently joined the world of social media or just didn't realise we were on there, we have both a Facebook page and Twitter feed for the Golf Club & Pro Shop. We try to keep you updated with any special offers, club news and interesting posts from the world of golf.

Bob forgot to remove a rescue club from his bag and only discovered at the first green that he was carrying 15 clubs. He applied the 2 stroke penalty and declared the club out of play. Later in the round the head of his 4iron had come loose which rendered it unplayable. Bob asked Andrew his fellow competitor if he could replace his damaged club with the excess club that had been declared out of play. Did Andrew agree?
Yes. Rule 4-3a(iii) (Damaged clubs) Overrides Rule 4-4c (maximum of 14 clubs) which prohibits the use of a club declared out of play as a result of a breach of R 4-4a or b.
