Night Golf
We are going to hold our very first NIGHT GOLF event at the club on Saturday, 28 February. This is sure to be a great laugh and I'm sure something that many of you won't have tried before!!!
I have purchased special night flyer golf balls which illuminate on contact for around 9 minutes, hopefully giving you enough time to reach your ball and hit it again!!!
We will have red markers around the hazards, white lining the fairways and green lights around the putting surfaces and the holes and flag sticks will also be illuminated.
Our first night golf event will take place over 4 shortened holes.....1st Old, 1st New, 18th New and 18th Old and we are going to make it a 3 club only event......you can choose which clubs to use!
The cost will be £15 per person which basically covers the cost of the course set up and golf balls for each player.
After the golf we will have a short prize giving with prizes for the best team (4 players) better ball score and the leading Individual
As we only have a limited number of spaces available we expect it to fill up fast. If you don't have a team, don't worry we can pair you up with some others. If anyone wishes to reserve a place or team, you must prepay your entry to the shop with all names participating.
Click here to get in touch if you want to get involved.
After the prize giving, there will also be an Envelope draw with the chance to pick up ££££'s. Tickets are £5 for the draw and can be bought on the night. We will aim to start the golf at 6.30pm and hopefully have a group going out every 12 minutes (I'm sure it may take longer than normal!!!) so we shall make a draw closer to the time so nobody's standing about waiting for too long. Last tee time will be at 8.30pm so this only gives us enough time for 40 golfers.

Are you hitting the Middle of Your Clubface???
Hitting the Middle of the Club is more important than you might think!! Click here to see what actually happens to the club head on off centre strikes.
It's actually amazing how much the club head moves when you strike the ball away from the middle of the face and this alone can have a huge influence on the direction and spin you get on your golf shots. Below are typical impact locations based on handicap.
Not only will off centre strikes hugely affect direction, they will also have a significant bearing on your distance.
If you want to check your ball striking then get yourself some Dr Scholl's Foot powder spray which you can use to spray on your clubface during a practice session and clearly show your strike patterns.
A good way to improve your ball striking is to have great awareness of where your clubface is during the swing and to be able to control this at will. Next time you're at the range (definitely not on the course!!) try and miss hit the ball deliberately.....sounds strange I know, but the more control you have over where you want to hit the ball, the better you will become. Try to hit a shot off the toe, then the heel then high and finally low on the face. Do this a few times and then deliberately try to find the middle....did you manage??...Good luck!!

It was raining when David and Bill set off in the Saturday Medal but by the 7th the rain had stopped. Bill's tee shot came to rest under a tree. A branch interfered with his backswing and before playing his next stroke Bill shakes the water off the branch. He then realised that this may not be permitted and asked David to explain .What did he have to say?
David agreed that in moving the water from the branch, which could have caused a distraction, the area of his intended swing was improved in breach of Rule 13-2 incurring a 2 stroke penalty.
