Major season kicks off this week European golf fans, cover your eyes! The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play was not pretty viewing for Padraig Harrington & Co. as the States dominated, with Billy Horschel defeating Scottie Scheffler in a scrappy final. Who can blame them considering it was their 7th match in just four days! There has been a lot of negative press surrounding the length of time it was taking many of the matches (2 players) to complete their rounds and former European Number 1, Colin Montgomerie was one of the professionals to make his opinions felt on the subject on social media. What's your thoughts on slow play? Does the game need to be quicker? What's your solution? We have now moved back to 10-minute intervals in order to try to help the situation on our courses as well as helping reduce crowding on tees. However, please try to stick to these times as if everyone tees off when the fairway is clear then all we do is jam up the course and the problem doesn't improve. My last piece of advice is if in doubt, always hit a provisional ball. Here's to a great season ahead for everyone! The Major Championship season kicks off this week as the world’s best lady golfers head to California for the ANA Inspiration. Last year’s tournament saw Mirim Lee shock everyone with a comeback win including two chip-ins, an 18th-hole eagle and a three-way playoff! A host of the game’s stars, including the Korda sisters (Nelly & Jess), Lexi Thompson and Danielle Kang have all been in fine form this year. It’s destined to be a cracker! Hopefully, it won't be long before you're teeing up in major club competitions once again, so why not book yourself in for a lesson or two to sharpen up your game? |
