For many, The Masters signals the start of the golf season and we don't have long to wait. One of the things that intrigues me most about the whole week is some of the shots the professionals are faced with, and nine times out of ten they seem to pull them off.
Whether it's uphill or downhill lies, intimidating putts across treacherous greens or approach shots littered with card-wrecking danger, we are treated to a vast array of shots during Masters week. My instruction pages might not advise you how to play a low slinging draw off pine needles, but you will find some great tips and advice for all aspects of your game.
Have a browse, and for during those times when you can't get out onto the course to play, or hone your game on the range, take on board a few useful pointers. You might not find yourself teeing it up at Augusta next year, but I guarantee you'll find it useful for shaving a few shots off round here. So click here to take a look at the videos and tips I have for you.
We have had another blustery week here at Moray Golf Club, with high winds (even by Moray GC standards) making golf even more challenging on the links!!
After a little confusion over the course layout after the Texas Scramble on Sunday, it has been decided that the courses will open in full, with preferred lies from Thursday 20th March. Please note that although fully open the white tee markers will not go out until Friday 28th March.
Texas Scramble
Even with rather windy conditions, there was still a full turn out for the Spring Texas Scramble. And considering the weather there was some impressive scores returned. Well done to everyone who battled the elements, and we hope to see you at many more opens over the season!

PING Fitting Day a Success
Thanks to everyone who attended the PING Fitting Day last Friday between 3-7pm. We had a great turnout on a very blustery day......Im just glad we had the event at the driving range under some cover and protection from the wind!!
These days are allocated by the companies, and we only get repeat events if these are well attended. I'm please to say PING were very happy with the turnout, and we should get another Day during the 2014 season.
In the mean-time, if anyone is interested in getting some new PING equipment, we can fully cater for you here at Moray Pro Shop as we have the PING G25 and I25 woods on demo, as well as an iron fitting cart with a selection of shaft flexes, different shaft lengths, and different head styles in a variety of lie angles allowing us to give you a complete fitting session. Rule of the Week 14th March 2014
It's been a windy week here at Moray GC, and we had a rules query related to the wind which I thought I would put into this week's newsletter. Bill hits a lovely approach to the 5th green. He marks his ball and when it comes to his putt he replaces his ball on the green and lifts his marker. As he gets ready to make his putt and addresses the ball, it moves as a result of a gust of wind. What should Bill do?
Answer: This rule has been changed fairly recently. Under rule 18-2b Ball moving after address the player is no longer penalised if his ball moves after it has been addressed when it is known or virtually certain that he did not cause the ball to move. Bill should continue to play the ball from its new position.
For more information on this rule, please click here.
