I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.
Last weekend we saw the Whitbread Shield competed for over both Elgin and Moray courses. Well, competed might be the wrong word!! We had a total of 21 games that started their matches but only 2 ladies and 1 gents matches were able to finish their games due to the gale force winds.
On venturing onto the course to look for survivors, I stumbled across Steve Crane, Shaun Phillips (Moray), Ian Forbes and Ian Savage (Elgin) still battling away. They fought on to the bitter end and Elgin finally edged out the home players on the final green.
Over at Elgin, the weather was slightly better (only slightly) and all matches were completed. However the bad news is that Elgin G.C won the shield again! I joined some of our members over at Elgin GC after finishing work and they certainly didn't let the disappointment of losing the match spoil their night!! Regardless of the result, its great to see the 2 clubs get together for this annual match and hopefully we can work together with them over the season for the benefit of both clubs.
In order to strengthen the team for next year (haha), our secretary and I are planning to take to the course against Michael McAllan and Gary Abel in next year's battle!
We had a rather manic week in the shop with Derek away on a well deserved golfing trip to Las Colinas Golf Resort in Alicante. He chose a great week to go away as all my stock seemed to arrive last week!
We have just taken stock of the new Oscar Jacobson range which has some really nice pieces, my favourite being the cotton 1/4 zip jumpers at £59.99 in a nice raspberry colour for those of you looking for some colour in your wardrobe for the summer ahead.
We also received our new Sunderland collection which includes lined sweaters, wind tops and layering pieces for our all year round protection from the elements!!
These are available in grey/lime and royal/white colour themes.
Have Your Golf Shoes Seen Better Days??
We have another great offer for our members and customers of Moray Professional Shop. This month we are returning with our popular shoe trade in on certain styles of FootJoy and adidas footwear.
We are offering a £10 trade in value on the FootJoy Contour Series and a £20 trade in offer on DryJoy Tour and DryJoy Casual shoes.
With adidas we are offering £20 against a new pair of Gripmore spikeless shoes ideal for those of you planning a trip to Turkey over the next few weeks (that must be about ½ of the membership!!) We are also giving a £10 trade in against this years tour 360x and Tour Traction models.

Need More Power in Your Round??
We are also running a special battery trade in offer during April. Trade in any old battery and I shall give you a £25 discount on a new Lithium battery. We have 18 hole options with t-bar and torberry connections for £199 - £25 trade in = £174 or 36 hole £249 - £25 = £224.
Lithium batteries are certainly not cheap but have significant advantages, and in my opinion are actually the cheaper options over the long term.
Traditional lead acid batteries are heavy, take longer to charge, have a reduced lifespan and reduced warranty compared to its lithium counterpart. A lot of people go for the lead acid battery based on cost in the short term, but I can assure you it's going to last longer and save you money in the long run.
If you would like to test drive one of our Motocaddy rental trollies with a lithium battery click here and we can arrange a FREE rental for you and run through the benefits again with you.
See the article below to find out more about Lithium batteries, or click here.
I Must be Mad!! If Adam or Justin Win the Masters, Get your Money Back!!
With only 2 weeks until the first major of the year, we have decided to offer a couple of great promotions between now and the start of the Masters.

The cost is £25 for the 3 days and the over 10's session runs from 11.15-12.45pm.

Hot new arrival at the Club
We have a new arrival in the clubhouse and it's hot!!! It's a new coffee machine..
You can now have your favourite coffee served at the bar in a fancy cup or latte glass and even get one of those fancy coffee biscuits with it.
You can now get the following: Americano, Latte, Cappuccino, mocha, expresso, hot chocolate and you can even get flavoured coffees with the addition of some caramel or vanilla syrup at a small extra charge. I tried my first one today and it was great to have some more hot drink options. The prices vary a little but they are all under £2 per coffee which is really good value for money when you see what the likes of the popular coffee houses are charging.

It was a very windy Saturday and Ken was replacing his ball on the green. He firmly pressed it onto the surface in order to prevent it from being moved by the wind and the slope of the green. James questioned his actions. What did he have to say?
James said in altering the surface of the putting green, Ken has breached Rule 1-2 by intentionally taking action to influence the movement of his ball in play and to alter the physical conditions that affect the playing of the hole which incurs a two stroke penalty.
