We have had some slightly better weather this week and the courses are starting to take shape nicely. We had a quieter weekend in the shop last weekend with no competitions being played for the first weekend in some time.
The season opening match between Moray and Elgin Golf Clubs takes place this weekend with low handicaps playing over the Old Course, while Elgin entertain the high handicap men, ladies and juniors. I hope to see you all in good spirits on Saturday and manage to take home the annual trophy for the club.
The Scottish Universities Championships also begins this Sunday with our very own Derek Ramsay representing UHI (University of Highlands & Islands)....Good Luck to Derek and UHI this week!!
We are also starting to receive new stock in every week and now have some Nike Golf (Mens & Ladies) and Under Armour clothing in store. We have also received some new PING putters, and are in the process of opening an Odyssey Putter account to broaden our putter offering for you.

Rule of the Week 27th March 2014
On the Tee at the 14th Old Neil had reached the top of his backswing When he started his downswing a cat came out of the bushes in front of him and shot across the tee. Neil immediately decided not to hit the ball. He was unable to stop his club from reaching his ball but was able to swing intentionally over the top of it. Charles who was in Neil's 3 ball said "You have missed the ball I think you have to count that as a stroke" What did Neil explain to Charles?
The Definition of a stroke "is the forward movement of the club made with the intention of striking and moving the ball, but if a player checks his downswing voluntarily before the clubhead reaches the ball he has not made a stroke." Because Neil had checked his downswing by altering the path of his clubhead and missing the ball even although his swing carried the clubhead beyond his ball he had not made a stroke.
