I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.
What another fantastic week it's been in the golfing world. My pick for the tournament, Louis Oosthuizen produced some fantastic golf but eventually lost out to American Zach Johnson who won a dramatic 4 hole playoff over the Old Course to claim his 2nd major victory and become the Champion Golfer of 2015.
Crowd favourite Phil Mickelson was trying to make a late charge and got to -10 before he got into a spot of bother of the 17th tee, with his ball finishing on one of the balconies of the St Andrews Old Course Hotel. It's safe to say he didn't get relief from the balcony and went on to double bogey the famous road hole.

As the Open Championship came to a close, our very own 5 day Open Championship began and we managed to get through day 1 of the qualifying rounds relatively unaffected by the weather and get all 336 golfers around the courses.
We are sure to have a busy week ahead and let's hope the weather stays kind for everyone playing. We will have a full round up in next week's newsletter.
We had a good turnout in the Tri-Am event on Saturday with teams of 3 returning their better ball score over the Old Course. In a very close competition, John C Macgregor, Charles D Stewart and Jeff Bartholomew won the event on a better inward nine holes from the team of Kay Vincent, Mike Dixon and Gordon Lennox. Jeff, a country member from Georgia, USA, made the journey especially to play in the Moray Open and this is now his 6th Moray Open. He teamed up with John and Charles and they made a 3 nett 2 on the 18th to come back in 29 shots and take the narrowest of victories.
There will be a full round up of the Moray Open next week.
Ladybird Raffle
Thanks to everyone who bought raffle tickets for the Ladybird Raffle Draw over the qualifying rounds of the Moray Open. They had a great response and I'm pleased to say they raised over £1100 over the 2 days. The Ladybird group rely heavily on fundraising to support the costs of the great work that they do for pre school children with developmental needs.
