I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.
The USPGA Championship is underway as we speak and it's Rory McIlroy's return to golf after his football injury. It will be very interesting to see how he does after a break. I'm sure his game will be in decent shape and he will have been putting his time to good use with plenty short game and putting practice. My bet for the week is Jason Day. He has been getting ever closer in the majors and I think his time has finally arrived. All will be revealed come Sunday night…..Enjoy the coverage!
This week at the club we have been busy with our final junior lessons of the summer holidays. Derek and I ran a junior week with coaching for 8-12 year olds and then 13+ ages. We had 16 kids in the younger age group and 9 in the older group so it's fair to say we had our hands full!!
However it was great to see such a good turnout and all the kids enjoying their week's golf.
Derek was due to be away this weekend playing in an assistant's event down at Shotts Golf Club. However he has only gone and done a Rory!!
He injured himself playing football for Burghead Thistle on Tuesday night and has torn a muscle in his left knee forcing him to pull out of the event.
Here is Derek in the clubhouse with his crutches alongside Country member
Gilmour Cuthbertson. At least he's still smiling!!
Moray members
Jeff Wright and
Kyle Godsman played some great golf in last weeks SGU event, the Leven Gold Medal. Jeff was unlucky to lose out in a playoff to eventual winner
Barry Hume (Haggs Castle) after 4 fantastic rounds of 65,72,69,66 for a -12 total of 272.
Kyle finished tied 11th with rounds of 68,69,76,72 for a +1 total of 285.
Well Done Boys!
I'm sure its just a matter of time before they both lift a trophy. They are both off to Cruden Bay this weekend to play in the North East Open Amateur and then will be hoping to take advantage of local knowledge as they play in the North of Scotland Open Amateur (David Blair Trophy) at Moray Old.
Monthly Medal 5 New CSS 70 It was tight at the top of the leader board with 3 players tied on 67, however
Neil Stewart edged them out with a better inward half.
Terry Scholefield was a further 2 shots back but I'm sure he wasn't too disappointed after recording a hole in one at the 6th hole.

Gareth Edwards Moray Members take Gleneagles by Storm!!
John Ellwood kindly sent in this photo of some of the members ready to take on the challenge of the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles which was host to the Ryder Cup last year. They all looked up for the challenge in this photo, however some hours later the party were like drowned rats having being caught in torrential rain!
Nevertheless, they still enjoyed their trip which also included a visit to Blairgowrie Golf Club to take advantage of our Recipricol green fee offer.
They are however enjoying being back to Moray Golf Club's pricing structure! ........4 cups of coffee and a Mars Bar at the 10th hole at Gleneagles only cost them £16!

New PING Products Hit the Shelves
We have just received delivery of the new PING GMax and i Series Irons in store to add alongside the G30 Iron range.
The new G Max is aimed at the golfer who is looking to add extra distance to their iron shots and at the same time ultimate forgiveness. Extra distance is achieved by the COR-Eye Technology which helps to increase ball speed, while the wide sole helps lower the clubs centre of gravity for added forgiveness.
A set of GMax 5-SW Steel irons costs
£599.

The new i E1 iron is a players club anyone can play. It boasts a new stainless steel which gives it a softer feel with increased workability and trajectory. I really like the look of these irons and these are perfect for the golfer who prefers the look of a players club but wants some forgiveness at the same time.
These retail at
£699 for 4-PW.

We have demo 7 irons available in these sets so pop by the shop if you would like to try them out. We also offer a full custom fitting service which is
