I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.
It's been a busy week in the world of sport. Andy Murray helped GB to their first Davis Cup Final since 1978 with a win over Australia in the semi finals to set up a final clash on clay with Belgium. Japan caused one of the biggest upsets in Rugby world cup history beating the South African team. However in the golfing world, the Solheim Cup seemed to create more drama and controversy than all of them put together!
An incident on the 17th green in the last of the fourball matches cast a dark cloud over the rest of the day's events and golf's image too. A birdie putt to win the hole for the Americans was missed by Alison Lee. As the European team walked off the green, Lee picked up her ball from around 18 inches thinking that the putt had been given. However Suzann Petterssen insisted the putt hadn't been given and so the referee had no choice but to award the hole to the European team. The match was then won on the 18th green and what followed were heated discussions and tears from both camps.
This gave the Europeans a 10-6 lead going into the singles. However it appeared that most of those commentating and viewing couldn't believe that Europe had claimed that match in the manner that they had, and the Americans used their anger to fuel a comeback. The US team won 8.5 from 12 singles points to win the Solheim Cup 14.5-13.5.
However the 2015 event will always now be remembered for "the incident" on the 17th green. It's funny that it just also happened to be 47 years (almost to the day) since Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin were involved in the most famous conceded putt in golf (1969 Ryder Cup) and one which is still strong in the minds of many golfing traditionalists. What did you think of the incident? Was it poor sportsmanship or was Pettersen just playing to the rules? Come and have a chat in the pro shop or click here to let me know your thoughts!
Hole in 1
Colin Stephen had a hole in one on the 4th of the Old Course last week.
Colin hit a 3 wood into the tough par 3 and was partnered by Bruce Stewart and Richard Phelps.
Well done Colin
This week I've been looking at ranges from adidas (Clothing and shoes) and also ordering some of the new TaylorMade M1 Drivers, fairways and hybrids for the shop.
Click here to find out more about the outstanding new M1 range.
The adidas collection looked great and I was pleased to see that the Tour 360 shoe is returning for 2016 with the new Boost technology that is used in adidas running shoes to give an extremely comfortable shoe.
Jason Day put the new M1 Driver straight into play at the BMW Championships and with opening rounds of 61 & 63 it certainly seemed to be doing the trick!! Day tied the 36 hole PGA Tour record and claimed the world number 1 spot in the process claiming his 3rd victory in 6 starts. Day was one of 16 players to make the switch to the new M1 Driver on its first week on tour.
The official launch date for the M1 range from TaylorMade is the 8th October. However as an official TaylorMade Partner, I have access to a number of demo clubs before this date. As a result, we will be holding a launch event on
Saturday, 3 October from 2-5pm. We will be running
FREE Of Charge trial sessions where you can come along and put the new M1 to the test against your current driver using our GC2 launch monitor, and there will be some added incentives for anyone wishing to preorder the new M1.
Bonus ball compWe are also running a Bonus Ball Competition through the shop in the lead up to the M1 Driver launch.
We will have 49 tickets available to purchase in the shop at a cost of
£8 each. Choose your number and when the National Lottey draw is made on the evening of Saturday, 3 October, the person who matches up with the bonus ball number in the main lottery draw will win a custom fitted M1 Driver.
Please note the winner must collect the M1 Driver as the prize and this cannot be changed for shop credit.

Ladybird Group - Quiz Night There will be a quiz night next Friday evening at 7.30pm in the clubhouse to help raise funds for the Ladybird Group.
This is a local charity that relies heavily on fundraising in order to continue operating. They aim to further the development and maximise the potential of pre-school children who require additional support through stimulation, encouragement and education, while offering valuable respite to parents and families.
Come along and show your support if you can or donations can be made to our Ladybird collection box in the shop.
When Sandy arrived at his drive his ball was lying on a small plastic bag. He marked the position of his ball under the bag and removed it. Then he placed his ball beside his marker and was going to play his ball from that spot. Did he proceed correctly?
No. As Sandy's ball was never at rest on the course he had to drop his ball not place it. Had he played from the spot where he placed his ball he would have incurred a two stroke penalty for playing from the wrong place. Because he had not played a stroke he is permitted to pick up his ball and drop it correctly without penalty.
