I hope you've all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to another exciting edition of the Moray Pro Shop weekly newsletter, bringing you up to date with all the latest news and gossip from within the walls of MGC.
This week I've been trying to tie up a few loose ends before I head off to warmer climates for my annual holiday to Dubai and it looks like I've timed it perfectly just as the winter weather seems to be hitting us. I'll be heading to the final event of the Race to Dubai, the DP World Tour Championship. It's all to play for as Rory McIlroy and Danny Willet are neck and neck going into the event and it's sure to be a great golfing spectacle as always.
While I'm away I'll be leaving you in the very capable hands of Derek, Julieann and Ben. They will look after any queries you may have and Derek will be available to help with any swing flaws you may have or equipment help you may be after.
Last week we had one of our active members say farewell to move back to England. Jack (I'll play in any weather) Baillie took part in his last winter medal with the seniors before moving back down south. Jack saved his best golf to last finishing 3,2,4,3 over the last 4 holes on the Old Course as he bid farewell to the club.
It has been a pleasure getting to know Jack over the last few years and I'm glad to hear he will be returning for a holiday to Moray next summer.
The winter cup had another good turnout last weekend with 39 playing on Saturday and 38 on Sunday. Last weekend's full results are now available on both noticeboards, or click here to view the full results from Saturday, or click here to view Sunday's results.
On Saturday, Lynne Tough won Division 1 with 41 points, 4 shots ahead of the chasing pack featuring Terry Scholefield and Iain Meggatt on 37 points.
In division 2, George Sutherland took the spoils with 38 pts while Neil J Smith was 2nd on 36 pts, one ahead of Sandy Dixon in 3rd place on 35 pts.
This week the tables turned in the magic 2's with Michael Anderson the lucky recipient of £32 for his 2 at the 15th hole on Saturday....Well Done Michael!!
On Sunday, Graeme Hamilton took top spot in division 1 with 38 pts, ahead of Craig Annette (37pts) and Neil Stewart on 36pts.
In Division 2, Steve Harding blew away the rest of the field with a whopping 43 pts to win by 7 shots from Gordon Lennox (36) with Greg Madigan one back on 35pts.
Steven reduced his winter handicap from 18 to 15 with this score. It must have all been down to the new TaylorMade R15 Hybrid that he won in our Bonus Ball Raffle...Well Done Steve!!
Sundays 2's were worth £3.90 to the following players - Neil Stewart, John Petrie, Alan Cowie, Rupert Hornby, Gary Cooper, Graeme Hamilton, Shona Reid and Alan MCWilliam.
Still a better return than you would get from your local bank!!

Colin and James after holing out at the 16th Old noticed that Colin had putted out with James's ball and vice versa. Both players were certain that they had holed out with the balls they had played from the 16th Tee. Thus it was concluded that they had exchanged balls during play of a previous hole or between two holes. James looked at Colin and asked "Are we both disqualified"?
Fortunately Bob was driving off the 17th and was on hand to settle their query.
If it cannot be established that the balls were exchanged during play of a hole Colin and James should be given the benefit of the doubt and it should be assumed that the balls were inadvertently exchanged between the play of two holes in which case No Penalty would be imposed. A ball played from the teeing ground into the hole is Not a Wrong Ball.
